rileymcshea3ParticipantMavs and Al-Farouq Aminu have agreed to a two year deal.
As a Mavs fan I really like this signing much more then the Rashard Lewis one. Aminu gives Parsons a legit back up and will fill Marion’s roll as a defensive forward that can help on the boards pretty nicely. Also saw rumors of Jameer Nelson being close to signing a deal to play in Dallas. Cuban did pretty good this off season after seeing years of missing out on the big fish of free agency.

XYRYXParticipantThat’s another quality signing for the Mavs. If you consider it’s for the vets minimum you really have to think why no other team made a pitch for him.
Btw I just read that Parsons is still upset and exchanged words with Harden who stated that he and Dwight are the cornerstones of the franchise and the rest are just role players… What a shot in the knee the Rockets offseason has been so far is really incredible. They gambled big time and only lost pieces and added basically nothing.
I’m really looking forward to the three Texas teams next year who should all be fighting for the top 4 playoff berths!

SpacegrassParticipantMavs seem to be going the route of getting better with depth instead paying max money for 1 stud. Remember the current champs didn’t have a single guy on the roster play 30mpg on average during the regular season.

MattP31ParticipantLove their offseason. This team is really putting something together around Dirk to make one more real run at another title. The Dirk, Monta Ellis, Chandler Parsons combo is a very solid core to work with plus a defensive anchor in Tyson Chandler and a few veteran point guards in Jameer Nelson(assuming he signs at this point), Raymond Felton, and Devin Harris(not even mentioning Mekel). Then they have Brandan Wright and Aminu coming off the bench plus I can see someone like Ricky Ledo developing into a guy that can score a little off the bench.

IndianaBasketballParticipantIt’s an OK signing. Aminu still can’t shoot, is a tweener and doesn’t have the highest basketball IQ. However, he’s athletic, plays solid defense and is a good rebounder.
He’s finally playing for a great coach though, so let’s see what Carlisle does with him.

festar35ParticipantVery excited about the Mavs this year, really hope Dirk has a legit shot at another Championship. If Indiana don’t get there I hope Dallas do it.

DolanCareParticipantI’m gonna have to agree with the sentiments of @Indianabasketball. Aminu is a long forward who can be somewhat disruptive on defense. A far cry from a lock down defender. He’ll help with rebounding too, but all in all it’s a signing of minimal impact IMO.

ExumInfernoParticipantIt must be safe to say that Marion is gone. Parsons starts, now Dallas have two backups new to the team as R Jefferson is there too. Crowder will play plenty too. Where is Marion going, the Pacers could certainly use him.

benny15ParticipantIronically enough, I’m hoping Marion would sign with the pelicans. I believe he is exActly what they need as a vet presence who can start and contribute by doing the little things as well as being Thea scoring option off the ball.

HitsterParticipantGood pick up by the Mavs, he can play SF and a bit of PF if needed, gives them very good bench depth too. As said above, the Mavs have had a very nice off season. Okay they maybe overpaid for Parsons but Dirk took below market value so that balances out.
They may not jump out as potential champions but don’t forget they took the Spurs to 7 games in this years play offs and this seadon’s roster looks solid for 50 odd wins and another play off birth. Other teams nmay have more potential but the Mavs will be there and can pounce if any other teams slip up.

tuck243ParticipantA guy that can come in and provide decent minutes if someone gets injured during the season… Outside of that, I would be surprised if he see any action in the playoffs… He’s the definition of what’s wrong with taking a raw tweener… Hasn’t improved at all and I remembered getting chastised when I said he was going to be terrible in the league… I don’t see how he can get minutes and contracts…
