When Amar’e was asked which players had impressed him the most during his time training with the Knicks in New York, most media members likely expected him to say Anthony Randolph, or Gallo, or maybe Felton.  Stoudemire’s response was quick, and surprising: "Landry Fields."  Amar’e said he was impressed by the youngster out of Stanford’s multi-dimensional game and athleticism.  The other player Amar’e praised was Timofey Mozgov.  "The two days I played with him, he was very impressive. Athletic, shot the ball well, very strong," said Stoudemire. That has pretty much been the consensus early on in Knicks camp.  From fellow players to the coaching staff and right up through Donnie Walsh – these two rookies have made their presence felt already.  They will have to fight hard for even limited playing time (especially Fields), but they have done all that has been asked of them thus far.  Knick fans are hoping Walsh plucked a couple of diamonds from the rough…

Anywho, With Coach D’Antoni holding the reigns(?) one of our forwards gotta be left out of the rotation, between Chandler, Fields, Randolph, and Gallo, I can’t see Fields getting much playtime..any at all, really, even if so, who’s he gonna beat out? But regardless, Glad to see the rookies stepping up, keeping the vets on there toes…

As for Mozgov, im reserving judgement until I see him play, im not sold…

Landry Fields was impressive last year at Stanford, averaging 22 and 8 in a not so competitive pac 10.  He can improve upon his free throw shooting which was only 69% last year in college.  Even more so, he can improve upon his shooting in general, but I watched him play a lot this past year and he really impressed me.  I think Donnie Walsh might have found a diamond in him.  He prove an energetic boost off the bench and hopefully they find a role for him during the season.

Watching the training camp, Rautins’ passing skills were fairly impressive, and his defense wasn’t that bad. He got beat a few times off the dribble but he also caused a few steals.  Like the guys on NBAtv said, he will probably make the team, but won’t see much playing time, as there are more proven players ahead of him.  But I think he can be a solid player in a few years, maybe sooner.

i thought fields looked ready to contirubute in the nba during the summer league. He actually shot the long ball better then i thought he would and his motor and athleticism were great as usual.

 Oh, comon, JJ Reddick has really improved this past season.  He decided he was going to put in the work and dropped in 10 ppg and solid defense for one of the best teams in the East.  JJ will never be a star in the league, but he’s a far cry from the player he was as a rookie.  And this is coming from a guy who hated him in college.

 I know I just couldn’t pass on the opportunity to drop that punchline, I thought about it 2 weeks ago and have been waiting for that moment since… 

I actually like Reddick because I love his game.  In college he use to mesmerize me because his distance and clutch shooting was amazing.  The same reason I love Steph Curry.  And before them I was a huge Trajan Langdon fan.  In fact still am.

Reddick biggest improvement is he is actually a good defender now.  But Rautins just don’t have the foot speed to ever be that good on defense.  Reddick actually tested out well at the combine.  Rautins tested out well…if he was a center.

Calling Rautins the next Redick is a huge overstatement. Redick was one of the most prolific socring guards in NCAA history while rautins became a good three point shooter.

You have to weigh the fact that Redick was guarded tremendously while at Duke and was still effective while Rautins hit most of his threes with a lot of space between him and the defender.

Randolph did look a little out of shape though. That’s a minor concern for now, but I think he’ll be fine by the start of the year.

I think Rautins will be able to contribute in 2 or 3 seasons. He’s a heady player, with good fundamentals and a great shot. A smart player will always find ways to score, contribute and disguise his weaknesses.

 because Randolph is suppossed to be this next all star according to fans and some scouting people who havnt watched him in practice or been with the warriors. From what I’ve seen and read his old teammates,coachs,gm don’t see allstar or greatness in him because he doesn’t have that drive to be that. He’s content with playing off his good given talent.  Coming into camp not in great shape at that age with that ability is uncalled for.  That’s why I singled him out. Amare shouldn’t be more impresses with a second round pick instead of a so called ” future allstar” which I buy into less and less as time passes. I actually like gallo wayyy more

I think he could do better…to not become the future of that Warriors team and then not even becoming good enough to be a role player in that Core…SMH…He’s in the best place to show off his skills and then he gets lazy and gains bad weight…It’s not like he gained the weight he needs to play the 4 and turned that into muscle…It’s Eddie Curry weight…Where you eating bon bons and watching Jersey Shore all summer Anthony???

 I love Randolph and I was thinking that he had the talent to go top 5 in that draft.  Top ten at the latest.   But as he continued to slip i was praying he would make it to 16 so the Sixers had a chance to grab him.  Randolph is just an impressive specimen with an illegal skill set for that size.

I was excited when he got traded to New York because if anybody knows how to maximize his skill set its Mike D’Antoni.

Then I watched real training camp.  JNixon is right he does look out of shape.  And not only that he doesn’t seem any more polished then he was last year.  I think he hit like one jump shot the whole time I was watching, besides the fact I was curious why he was taking so many jump shots.  He got the size and perimeter skill set to get into the lane at will and finish strong.  But he doesn’t he is playing soft in practice and I know he is not a soft player.

Then I started to realize maybe why he didn’t get the minutes he should of in Golden State.  He doesn’t seem to take practice serious.  If you look at Amare everything that guys does in practice he does at game speed and gives everything his all.  That is why he is a superstar and got that big contract.  Randolph looked like he was just going thru the motions. 

And Gallo looks very impressive and his frame has filled out more.  On a few of the full court layup drills I noticed Gallo using his body to finish, and Randolph after a few times started to do the same thing.  Looks like Randolph is atleast learning. 

And I didn’t think that Landy Fields was as quick on his feet as he is.  He looks very impressive.  He reminds me of Jeff Green in so many ways and could see him developing into a similar player.  Fields also looks like he’s a legit 6’9.

Million Dollar talent/50 Cent head….If he gets is ish together he’ll be solid but he’s a little to lazy and immuture at this point so he’s gonna get lost in the shuffle in NY…Think about it…Gallo(who the Knicks are very high on…I don’t see it) Amare…Walker,Chandler and Fields seem to play well at the Sf/Pf spots in Mike D’s system too…so if he doesn’t give it his all he’s gonna be the odd man out and probaly trade bait along with Curry’s contract…Lets not forget the Knicks are praying for Carmelo…who would play Sf/Pf in New York IMO…AR may be left out New York future plans…I would take on a Lou Willams for AR and Walker…that would be good for both parties…He can play the back up 3 and 4 here behind Brand…Speights and Hawes can split time at Center…Iggy and Thad got the Sf spot with Iggy playing some Sg…

just got done watching the knicks practice on nbatv. Fields looked okay didnt do anything special. But DAntonni said fields has earned a spot in the rotation and will play right away.

i always thought he had a great feel of the game at cuse, which should help him down the line, since he was never a #1 option.

Fields is one of those classic players that does everything good, but nothing great. With that said, he’s a perfect D’Antoni player because of his versatility. The only way I see him getting playing time however, is if they slide Anthony Randolph over to the PF spot.

Its going to be interesting seeing what D’Antoni does with this rotation he’s gonna have, because he has a lot of guys who can play about 2 or more positions.
