I know the 76ers have gotten off to a slow start and some of their issues are going to naturally be blamed on 2nd year player Markelle Fultz being thrown into the starting lineup, I’ve watched all the games and can say with certainty that Fultz is not the issue in the starting lineup/roster

The 76ers biggest issue isn’t floor spacing or Fultz/Simmons not shooting 3’s with consistancy, simply put, the 76ers need a scorer off the bench to balance the game out

    Easy Fix

Start Reddick at the 2 and Saric to role of 6th man, Dario can easily feast off the 2nd units around the league, in fact he’d be able to do alot more than just score from the 6th man position, he can be the engine that drives the 2nd Unit in Philly

Start Fultz and Reddick in the backcourt

Start Covington and Simmons in the frontcourt (I believe Simmons can do the same things on offense and create more havoc from the PF spot)

Start Embiid at Center to anchor the Offense and Defense

Saric, Shamet, TJ, Chandler and Johnson can run the 2nd Unit

Saric and Shamet can easily replicate what Illysova and Bellinelli gave us off the pine last year, TJ can backup Fultz at PG late in games if Brent is determined to develop him slowly, Chandler is twice the role player Justin Anderson was and Amir is a solid vet who simply needs to provide energy and toughness when Jojo, Ben and Dario sit

Zaire Smith could be an X Factor Defender whenever he gets back from injury

In theory this is a good idea but the Sixers probably recall Dario coming off the bench as a rookie and struggling mightily. He was way more efficient as a starter. I think it is worth giving it a try again but he would need to buy into the idea.

I also think he can play some backup Center depening on the matchup..He plays good positional defense inside. Amir Johnson can bring some energy from time to time but he isn’t a guy I really like in the rotation.

Good positional defense inside? I like Saric, but…check out Blake’s highlights of his 50pt game. looked like 45 of them were going over, around and thru Saric.

I like the idea of him leading the 2nd unit with TJ

Personally I think moving Markelle Fultz to the bench and giving him the green light when he enters the game would be the right option. It would help him to regain his confidence and perhaps next season he could move his way into the starting lineup. I’d start JJ Reddick instead.

Remember last season that the Sixers had one of the Top rated Startung 5’s in All of the NBA – their starters could hang w/ Anyone but then their Bench unit would enter & get utterly Destroyed!

People forget that after 60 or so games the Sixers were about 4 games over .500 & they hovered in this area All season

What changed??? Markelle Fultz returned & was installed as the PG on the 2nd Unit & TJ McConnell was put into a deep reserve role & Marco Belinelli & Ilyasovich arrived from Atlanta after buy outs & suddenly Phila’s 2nd Unit was setting opposing reserves on Fire!

Fultz’s issue as a Starter is that he is Not & Never has been a 2 guard! Fultz is Huge at 6’5” w/ a 6’10” Wing Span, Freakishly Athletic & a Natural Point Guard w/ unselfish tendencies – so Fultz was breaking down the opposing PG, getting Deep in the land causing the opposing Defense to crater & then kicking out Belinelli, Ilyasovich

So instead of the Starters building a lead, the reserves losing it, the starters hetting it back, the reserves losing it cycle – the last 20 games the 2nd Unit was Building on these Leads & Expanding them & Phila was not only winning they were Crushing teams – a lot of bad teams but a Lot of good teams as well

I have No idea why the Sixers Coach is forcing Fultz on to the Starting Unit. I like your idea w/ Saric but I think an even Better idea would be to do what OKC did w/ James Harden – allow Fultz to run the 2nd Unit, Feast on the opponents reserves

Plus once Chandler & 1st Rnd pick Zhaire Smith return, that unit along w/ Muscala & the other Rookie Smaet who have both looked good you are talking about a Really Dynamic 2nd Unit w/ a gr8 mix of youth & experience & you put JJ Reddick back on that Killer Starting Unit from last season

Right now Phila’s worst enemy is some Really puzzling coaching decisions – why on Earth would you break up that Starting Unit of Simmons, Embiid, Saric, Covington & Reddick??? They were Killing teams last year & now they’d have a Full year playing Together! Why split that up??? Can a Phila fan explain this to me b/c I am Honestly confused (no disrespect)

Not  76ers fan but maybe this is why they are doing this:

Futlz is not a pure SG more so a combo guard…

Could Futlz be a harden/T-mac light maybe the reasoning for why the 76ers maybe doing this move now though is this:

Futlz is longterm plans Reddick isn’t as he doesn’t match cores age.

Reddick gets torched vs bigger guards defensively see Reddick vs Klay etc Futlz has physical tools to be able to at least hang with bigger guards.

The 76ers could also be trying to pump up Futlz’s trade value as a starter vs having come off the bench screams they have no confidence in him and would only be able to sell his value low if they did ever want to trade him..

Plus you don’t want to be the next OKC in regards to regretting Selling low/giving up to soon due to lack of information on a player(Harden trade to Houston) and having them florish in other system…

This move could also set them up for they could move another player later down the line if they don’t progress/don’t help them win longterm-See anyone not named Embiid as possible candidate if game stays the same or they don’t win enough…Not saying they will move them but better know all the information on all Key pieces..

All options have logic but as they have decided to start with Fultz, moving him back to the bench might knock his confidence and maybe they feel he’ll get more open shots with the first unit. Reddick is an excellent shooter so would be more able to find his spacing with the 2nd unit to hit his shots.

Saric as 6th man has a lot of sense and gives a smaller line up but he does seem better as a starter to me. Although Fultz and Reddick as a due does give more movement to the starting 5 and makes the Simmons match up a bit harder.

The larger issue is that both are so ball dominate. Fultz with the ball and Fultz without the ball are two totally different players. And while Fultz’s shot looks a lot better it still has a ways to go. He’s release is way to slow.

On the positive side it’s obvious he’s (Fultz) improving. But I question weather those two will ever be able to thrive on the court together.
