Colton Iverson’s next college destination is Colorado State, his father, Chuck, confirmed on Wednesday.

 

The 6-foot-10 Iverson, who left the Minnesota Gopher program this March after three seasons, made Colorado State his first visit after getting a release from his scholarship at Minnesota.

 

Iverson also made visits to the University of California and Santa Clara before making his decision this week.

 

“Coach (Tim) Miles was a big part of his decision,” Chuck Iverson said of the Doland native who coaches CSU. “Miles recruited him out of high school and they had a very good relationship. The fact that Colton’s former teammate at Minnesota who transferred there, Travis Busch, couldn’t say enough good things about the program was another factor.”

 

Iverson will have to sit out next season with the Rams, who were 19-13 in their fourth season under Miles in 2010-11. The former North Dakota State and Southwest Minnesota State coach led the Rams to the NIT last season, lifting the squad over the .500 mark for the first time since 2006-07.

 

“Colton got to play some ball with the guys while he was there and hit it off pretty well,” Chuck said. “They’re talking like they’re going to be pretty good. They have every intention of being a tournament team.”

How is Colton Iverson related to AI when he is 6’10 and AI is like 6’0? 10 inches difference. What, did that gene somehow skip from one brother to the other? And not to mention one is white while the other is black. LOL.

I had no idea Kuron was AI’s cousin/nephew. Hopefully he will be a rebirth of the original AI. Not the AI that was great most of his career, then in the end started to really suck because of his attitude, eventually having to finish his career overseas. I hope Kuron stays in the NBA his entire career and does great just AI should have done.

I think the height difference is not the biggest surprise here. After all, Kevin Love, Travis Outlaw and Kevin Durant are all MUCH taller than their respective siblings. Not to mention, Michael Jordan was 10 inches taller than his older brother Larry.

I think the fact that he was a blonde haired white dude from South Dakota was more of the kicker. The height thing did add too a little more as well, but I just wanted to say that it is not entirely uncommon.

Kuran Iverson on the other hand, is reportedly 6’8. He looks like a nice prospect, but we will see if he is the next Allen Iverson.
