After seeing the two players the Celtics and Kings made respectively it made me think there’s something in the works. The Celtics drafted Marcus Smart although they have a perrenial all-star in Rondo, and the Kings drafted sharp shooting guard, Nik Stauskas, although sweet stroke shooting guard, Ben Mclemore was their lottery selection last season. The Celtics biggest need another than the center position is more perimeter shooting and athleticism, enter Ben Mclemore. The Kings biggest need is a true point guard, enter Rajon Rondo. Here’s a trade that I constructed that makes sense for both teams

Celtics acquires: Ben Mclemore, Isiah Thomas, Derrick Williams, Jason Thompson, and Travis Outlaw

Kings acquires: Rondo, Gerald Wallace, and Chris Babb

This trade works financially for both clubs

I don’t think they trade rondo this offseason, I think they wait and see how smart and rondo do together before they trade him or they might decide to keep him longtern

Anyone who doesn’t support this trade is a flat out hater, because I believe this is a great deal for both teams. The Kings don’t care making deals for stars even without the assurance of them resigning. This deal is logical, when it goes down all you haters will look like idiots

No one is hating on the Kings’ side of the deal, you hater. The Celtics just aren’t getting enough in this deal for an Elite player like Rondo. Maybe add a 1st round pick to the Celtics and we have a deal. Stop hating tho.

Why do you do this to yourself?  Purposely just going straight to pissing people off and saying that if they don’t agree then they are wrong.  The trade favors the Kings, plain and simple.  Perhaps some tweaks and you have it.  But, calm the heck down with the "haters"

Although in theory this trade makes sense, it will not work for a few reasons

    (1) Thomas is a free agent, and the Kings could only move him in a sign and trade.  The Celtics would not want to take on that kind of cap room.

    (2) That package is not nearly enough to draw Rondo.  McLemore is a great piece, but nothing else in that package is nearly good enough to have the Celtics pull the trigger on that.

    (3) Why would the Celtics flip the bad contract of Wallace for the bad contract of Thompson?  Neither player is worth the money they make , but Thompson is still a year farther away from coming off the books than Wallace is.

I agree there is a strong chance we see the Kings make a push for Rondo, but if they do it will be centered around McLemore and picks, and probably still need a third team to come in and offer more young assets.

Boston will be asking for a first rounde pick for sure if they are shipping rondo out. Means they are in full rebound!

Sacremento fan dreaming. That trade would suck for Boston. Better off playing Rondo and Smart than doing that.

Not to be rude to the OP, but I just created a topic explaining the rationale of the Kings pick. I think you would benefit greatly by reading that topic.

The whole gist of the topic was this: Yes, McLemore was SUPPOSED to be a SG with a sweet stroke. But I think you saw this year, this his shot needed to develop. The Kings team is built to win games now and make the playoffs, not to build the team from the ground up like the Sixers are doing. The Kings team is built to get from point A to point B (from year after year lottery dweller to a playoff team) Kings management knew that going in, so they looked at their team in the present and what they think it will be in the future. Then they decided on a goal in this draft, and developed a big board regardless of which team would take who, of just players that would accomplish that goal. That goal was to get shooting on the wings. Yeah, the Kings should have traded down to get Stauskas but we can’t ignore that they didn’t try to do that beforehand. Ever since the lottery order was established we heard that the Kings wanted to trade down. But unfortanately for them there were no takers, so they looked at their big board and took the best player available on that list. It may not have been the best player available on the board with the 8th pick, but I do believe that Stauskas was the best player available on their list.

This trade totally takes for granted what the Kings have already built. Have some faith in McLemore and Williams. They are both young, and have some great potential. You should if you are a Kings fan. Don’t trade away your young players when they are still just that, young. Have some faith, continue to develop them. Don’t give up on them, that is a hoorible thing to do if you are a diehard Kings fan.

Again not to be rude, but just saying, look again at what kind of team the Kings have. They are building towards getting into the playoffs next year. To do that they need shooting. They got that in Nick Stauskas. Yeah he plays the same position as McLemore, and McLemore was thought to be, and still is considered to be a SG with a sweet spot like Stauskas. I think Stauskas was drafted though not to create a logjam at SG but for bench scoring. Stauskas was drafted to be a sixth man, not a starter. McLemore is the starter, Stauskas will be his backup and the 6th man off the bench. Yeah, he wasn’t the best talent available but again I already stated my position on that argument.

Stauskas was a bad choice.  A player like Gary Harris or Vonleh would have been a better choice.  They need some players that can play D!  Also you don’t draft players at 8 in a strong draft to be sixth men, if you do your a bad GM.  I think the Kings feel that McLemore is not what they thought, either too raw or a total bust.

The only way this makes sense, is if Danny wanted Staukas and he would be the main piece in a Rondo trade.  I do think its time for a complete rebuild and that means trading Rondo.  The Kings are the best fit I can find, they need him and they want him.  Does anyone think he resigns in Boston for less then Max money?  I don’t!  Also I don’t think he’s a max player.  He’s worth around the 12 million he’s making now.  Also even is he signed a 5 year 60 million deal, which he never will, he still makes us too good to get a top 3 pick!  We have to trade him and Jeff Green.  Not a lot of teams need a PG and not all teams value Rondo the way we do.  So please stop thinking we are going to get a major haul for Rondo in a trade.

good chance op right and there is a trade in the works between the two team, the reason the trade is not already done migh be because of Jason Terry, he and his contract may plan to be part of the deal to match selaries but he can not be traded to the Celtics until july 1!

Rondo, Gerald Wallace for Ben Mclemore, Derrick Williams(expiring), Travis Outlaw(expiring), Jason Terry(expiring) and future picks makes so much seanse, then by next year Celtics have enough room to go after K Love and D Jordan combine!

    Celtics 2015/16 line up:

    Marcus Smart
    Ben Mclemore
    James Young
    Kevin Love
    DeAndre Jordan
    bench: Avery Bradley/Jeff Green/Jared Sullinger

First not sure Rondo is an all star next year on this team, unless Danny adds a lot of talent.  Which I don’t see happening.  Second he is a free agent next year!!!  I’m not just trading Rondo to trade him.  We have to either sign him to a max deal or trade him.  It’s that simple.  I don’ see Rondo signing another team friendly deal.  So you have to trade him.  On average you’ll get more trading him in the off season, then at the trading deadline.  Now if you can get the Kings to take Wallace and not take back any deals past this up coming season, that’s great.  If you get McLemore or Staukas, and a couple of unprotected picks that’s not a bad trade.  Taking on Wallace’s deal is worth one if not two first round picks.  Even with Rondo, I don’t think its a lock they make the playoffs in the West and if they do as a 6-8 seed.  Chances are your going to get a couple of ok first rounder’s, with a chance of getting a really good pick (look at Cleveland).

Now with Rondo gone, I think Smart has a chance to win ROY.  I also think he could in year one, become our go to scorer.  He has a way of getting to the line, which we really need.  A huge rookie year, thinking like 18 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1.7 steals a game.  In one year, Smart could become more of a draw then Rondo.  I love Rondo, but the time has come.
