European BasketballerParticipantGreek center Georgios Diamantakos, that I have been talking about here several times and for awhile now….this is an update on him.
He is now 19 and would be like heading into his sophomore season of college in NCAA if he was American. For this upcoming season it has been said that he will make the main rotation of the big Greek Euroleague club Panathinaikos as their 11th man and 3rd center. Panathinaikos uses an 11 man rotation with 3 centers.
At his last measurements most recently just in the last couple weeks for Greek junior national team, he was measured at 7-1 with a 7-3 wingspan and 275 pounds…..
Here he is in YouTube:
At European Under-18 Championship:

In the first tier professional Greek League playing with the senior men’s team of Panathinaikos against the senior men’s of Apollon Patras:

Rip255What is his best/worst/realistic comparison? When will we see him in the NBA?

GreekParticipantDiamantakos is a true giant. Huge body soft hands, can get everything you throw around to him, box out well, can finish, and absurb the contact. High IQ, he can pass well, good rebounder, he is boxing out his man. He is C all the way, and he knows it. He understand his limitation. Can block some shots.
Weakness. Really SLOW. He can play D on the post but will be killed at the pick and rol. No lateral quickness at all. Not explosive, mostly below the rim player.
Best case: Little worse than Pekovic.
Realistic comparison. Good Euro C for 15-20C, even decent backup C at NBA lvl.

European BasketballerParticipantYou are also the same guy that said Georgios Tsalmpouris could not even play at NCAA division II level here when I posted about him and said he would be soon signing in NCAA I. You laughed and mocked me and said I was trolling and told everyone here I was lying and trolling and that player was horrible and could never ever make a roster in NCAA I level.
A few weeks later it was announced by Fred Hoiberg that he had signed with Iowa State in NCAA I and that they considered him a big talent and that he was one of the bigger signings the school had in recent years.
So when "Greek" gives his insight on a Greek player’s "ceiling" here, you are automatically underrating by an extreme degree. Just to everyone here knows that.
He is obviously a troll with that name, just trying to hate on every Greek player, because never even one time has he said even a half way decent thing about any Greek player here.
