Mr. 19134ParticipantI knew he was a lottery talent but wow he really transformed his body. He was always awkwardly skinny now he looks like Thomas Robinson except Mitchell is a prolific shot blocker making him in my eyes an even better prospect.
If CJ Leslie had anywhere near the amount of weight guys like TRob n TMitch put on he too would be a surefire top 10 pick.

Raef LaFrentzParticipantI like this comparison for now. He may have a bit tighter handle than Wallace, and maybe he’s an inch taller too.. But his athleticism and on-court play really are reminiscent of Wallace.
Like you can see in that video above, he’s a terrifying athlete. Imagine if he develops his jumper and his one-on-one game to the point where he can create his own shot. He has the potential to be a star.

For_Never_EverParticipantHe reminds of Derrick Williams in this video. Looks to be a tweener, has the mobility of a SF, but idk if his ball handling and shooting is good enough. I’ve always been ify about a team picking a 6’8 tweener PF.

SiggyParticipantI think he’ll function fine as a 6’8 PF. Forget about his height. He’s a got a PFs body (already ~240lbs), a 7’3 wingspan and he has no problem mixing it up on the interior, cleaning the glass or protecting the paint.
I’m not crazy about his shot form, but he did shoot a high % from deep last yr on low volume. Him having that range is just a bonus, but I think he’ll do most of his damage around the paint and midpost.
IMO, he’s easily a top 5 pick. I’d take him over Noel.

apb540ParticipantI think Mitchell is a very good athlete, shot blocker, and rebounder but he has a lot of other holes in his game that will be exposed on the NBA level. It’s dam near impossible to find good Tony Mitchell highlights online (I tried following him all year but North Texas appearantly lacks in media), but from what I have seen he appears to lack a consistent jumper (although he put up great shooting %’s last year), has the body of a tweener, and doesn’t have the handle to match his size at the next level.
Coming into this year I expect him to make a jump in his game similar to what Derrick Williams did, or even Terrance Jones for a different example. After putting up 14 and 10 with 3 blocks a game there is only so much farther to go, but if he averages 17-20, 10-12, and 3-4 he would have a great chance to be picked in the top 6-10 picks.

RigelzParticipantHe can dunk, we see that 🙂 . If he develops ball handling and more confidence on his shot i think he could be a tremendous SF. Otherwise he can go PF but i think this way he struggles against taller players like Aldridge, Gasol, Duncan etc…..it’s very difficult you can play defence near the glass when you are only 6.8 (in shoes?) and you are a rookie…

JoeWolf1I like Mitchell a lot, and although mocks change a lot in 7 or 8 months, I feel he’s a top 5 pick next June. I like his versitility, yet he doesn’t bail on his rebounding/shot blocking and post game to try to shoot 3’s and be a point forward. He knows his game and as long as he embraces that, his future is very bright.
He played center last year for North Texas and has a nice outside shot, but despite being a 44% shooter he only took 41 all season because that wasn’t his role. I love guys who know that they are needed to rebound and block shots, and thrive there and use their versitility in the flow of the game and to catch people off guard, rather than a forced showcase of what they can do.
I think he’d be a great fit for the Bobcats.
