Steveni saw him, he came to my college for a tourney. he was easily the best player on brewster (in my eyes anyways) and he was something special. ran the floor like a guard, and gets up!!

mikeyvthedonParticipantHe is a pretty impressive player, and the Psycho T comparisons seem fitting. That is not a knock in the least, as Psycho T had one of the best collegiate careers one could remember, his energy is fierce and he really started coming into his own last season with the Pacers. One thing about Mitch though, I think he was born in 1992?

If this is so, he and I have the same birthday, although mine was 8 years earlier. Still, I know that Andre Drummond is born August 10, 1993, and he was supposedly class of 2011 as well as Mitch. I know Mitch struggled with his grades early on, than really turned things around when he went to Brewster. I do not think age makes a major difference, and think it is overly harped on, but what I will say is that it made a MAJOR difference in how we viewed Mitch McGary as a basketball player. I think he made major strides and really came into his own this past year, and I believe that Andre should probably do much of the same with more experience under his belt.
Also, I believe Tyler Hansbrough was in much of the same situation as Mitch. I know he was an older freshman, and if the age listed is true, than he and Mitch both would have been 20 year old freshmen. This is not incredibly rare, it happens, but I remember people commenting about Tyler’s age, which seems incredibly ridiculous now. Tyler is only 25 and he has two NBA seasons under his belt, I do not think age is much of an issue. Another instance where someone was even older and turned out to be a legitimately slept on NBA prospect was Taj Gibson. I marvelled at the fact that Taj was a 21 year old freshman, but that did not stop the fact that he could still ball like crazy. He made an immediate impact at USC, and played two more years before entering the draft and having his "potential" questioned due to how old he was. Needless to say, as the 26th pick in the draft, Taj has been a tremendous value pick, and looks much better than many of the 4’s taken in front of him. As a matter of fact, Tyler and Taj have probably been the best two PF’s in the 2009 draft thus far not named Blake Griffin.
I just wanted to point this out though, because I think a year can make a huge difference at times. I believe that Mitch could probably play in the NCAA next year and contribute at a very high level, and should be even more prepared to do so come next year. Still, for those questioning Andre Drummond, realize that he has been under a spot light for a long time, and also that while his motor has been constantly questioned, along with people saying he has yet to dominate the competition, he has been pretty darn solid. Realize that last year, for the U-17 USA Team, Andre was the 4th leading scorer behind Bradley Beal, James McAdoo and Mike Gilchrist, and only behind McAdoo and Mike in rebounding. Not to mention, his averages of 8.6 and 6.8 were even more impressive factoring in his only averaging 12.8 mpg. He still has a lot to work on, and he should definitely look towards Mitch too see the energy he should be bringing to the games, but I still think Andre Drummond is more than likely the best long term prospect in the 2012 class amongst big men.

WizardofOzParticipantOne thing I noticed is that he’s very good at using either hand. He shoots with his left hand, but is very good at dribbling, finishing, and blocking shots with his right hand also.

mikeyvthedonParticipantHeard it was pretty high on his list. Think Shaquille Cleare probably is announcing where he is going soon, and would not be surprised if he picks the Terps. That would be a BEASTLY front court. I also was impressed with Mitch using either hand, reminds me of a somewhat taller Carlos Boozer.

WinterSoldierParticipantHe has simularities to Psycho T but I think he moves better maybe a mix between him and Griffin but taller and longer than them. Needless to say I think he can be a very good player in College and possibly the next level.
