OhCanada-ParticipantWho are some players you predict will be traded by the trade deadline?
I think Fox gets traded and probably for peanuts. It seems like the jump in talent to the NBA is not going to bother Dylan Harper one bit and everything he did in college he will be able to do at this level. Only thing thats going to slow him down is usage. That makes Fox the odd man out again and the Spurs wont be as dumb as the Kings who decided to build around Fox instead of Haliburton. Castle and Harper match Wemby’s window much better especially contractually.
After struggling with the Spurs especially with his shooting whats Deaaron Fox’s trade value?

NorrinRaddParticipantFox is a perfect trade candidate in theory… I can see him going elsewhere. Not sure what his trade value is exactly, but I think he’s more valuable than peanuts… The best option imo would be to try to pull off a Fox and another player to be named for Ace Bailey and a player to be named of some sort… to reunite Ace and Dylan but with actual teammates. Fox is worth a top 10 pick and a rotational young player at least or another vet with better positional value.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Bronny/LeBron were packaged for something.

HitsterParticipantWould Pops pull the trigger on Fox after only 17 games and they gave him a 4 year fully guaranteed deal worth nearly $230m only a couple of months ago. Danny Ainge I don’t see giving up on Ace unless it was for a guaranteed top 3 pick in next years draft.

NorrinRaddParticipantAce wouldn’t be easy to get, but San Antonio might have the goods to get him with players/picks… Or maybe go the other way and trade Harper and someone for Markkanen and someone and have Dylan reunite with Ace in Utah…

HitsterParticipantI don’t see the Spurs making any rash moves they need to see how the new look team goes. Wemby has only played one and a half NBA seasons, Castle one season, Harper and Bryant have literally played a few warm up games. So I don’t see anything happening in a rush. Pops was prepared to be patient when HC and Team President so with him now just Team President I don’t see him changing his outlook.
The key to the Spurs will pretty much be Wemby and they can add a few veteran shooters in due course as ring chasers will always be drawn to a team with Wemby in it.
Sochan has yet to get a qualifying offer so I could see him and Harrison Barnes who has an expiring deal being the guys on the block if the Spurs made any moves this season.

NorrinRaddParticipantI doubt the Spurs would part ways with Harper too, but you never know… and I think Markkanen is out either way.

HitsterParticipantAinge and Ainge Jnr are probably looking to max out what they can get for Markkanen. Imagine if Ainge and Ainge Jnr tried to trade for LBJ and Jnr. Bronny could have a couple of wives in Utah and LBJ could buy the team.

NorrinRaddParticipantHOU/OKC is a good game if anyone’s catching the season opener… Holmgren is having a game – it’s a close one!

NorrinRaddParticipantthe other side of it for Houston, Sengun looks like he’s still their best player.

HitsterParticipantRyan Kalkbrenner starting at C for Charlotte, I think he is a sleeper choice for one of the Rookie NBA teams given the likely minutes he’ll play.

NorrinRaddParticipantwhat a crazy night… sick reverse dunk from Wemby… rookie class is living up to the hype!!! Lovin this opening to the season!!!

NorrinRaddParticipantthe way Wemby is playing today… he’s making up for that lost time last year and going for MVP

BothTeamsPlayedHard-ParticipantWith Wembanyama down for at least 2-3 weeks before reevaluation, which means he is likely out at least one month. I have to wonder whether a slow-and-steady approach with building a team around a guy that size makes sense. It is entirely possible he has a 15-year career, but that his first five years will be when he is best suited to be the best player on a championship team. Every time an announcement of Victor missing time comes out, I think about how Porzingis is still a good player, but his athleticism is not what it was. He is also less available. He is only 30, but it is like a Blake Griffin 30. Maybe 21-25 year old Wemby will be the best we get, and San Antonio is too slow to take advantage. Does anyone really think he will return to a team over .500? They are hoarding picks, but Wemby’s best years might spent be with trying to see if Keldon Johnson, Julian Champagnie, Devin Vassell, and Luke Kornet are good enough. As a basketball fan, it just concerns me that execs have lost what the purpose of their job is.

NorrinRaddParticipantYou just never know how big the window will be for a championship team or dynasty or even a contender… They really need to try to get some great talent surrounding Wemby…

OhCanada-ParticipantToday Shams reported Giannis has discussed his future with the Bucks which maybe suggesting a potential trade and the same day in the Pistons/Bucks game he went down with a non contact injury 3 minuters into the game. The injury is being called a calf strain, some were worried it was another achilles tear.
Guess the Giannis trade rumors are gonna start flowing again.

NorrinRaddParticipantWhat are our thoughts on the recent Trae Young trade???
0 - Posted on: Wed, 01/07/2026 - 10:39pm #1270956

BothTeamsPlayedHard-ParticipantAt worst, Atlanta is no worse today than yesterday. If they ride it out with McCollum, he can be a lower maintenance, lower variance option to Trae Young. He is a better shooter. Throughout his career, he has been adaptable to playing on and off the ball. While not a good defender, he doesn’t rival Young as the worst defender going. If they pair him with Porzingis in an Anthony Davis trade, I don’t mind seeing more Vit Krejci or Luke Kennard in the short-run. With the team having two 1st rounders (likely the Pelicans and the Cavs), they will have options to bolster their backcourt. If the Pelicans pick is in the 5-7 range (and it is basically a coin-flip chance the worst teams fall out of the top 4), then they would likely be the team where Mikel Brown or Kingston Flemings would make a lot of sense. Neo Avdalas would also be in the mold of the kind of guy they have been going for recently. He can play on or off the ball, and has size and versatility. Around the Cavs pick, maybe PJ Haggerty would be an option.
As for the Wizards, some teams just never get right. It certainly makes that trade where they shipped Deni Avdija to Portland so they could draft Bub Carrington look even better. Where are they going giving Trae Young the ball? Also, just because they are the worst, or second worse depending on the day with Utah, it doesn’t mean adding the worst individual defensive player in the league is without downside.

NorrinRaddParticipantYeah, I agree with your assessment of the trade and the pros and cons… amazing how toxic Trae Young is for a team to move forward though imo. And having him run with Tre Johnson and Cam Whitmore if the team is healthy… smh… nah…

OhCanada-ParticipantWashington has kind of been playing this game for a few years now. Targetting disgruntled or injury prone players and trying to flip them for something of value. Players that are good enough to get decent stats on paper but wont win games. Kuzma, Poole, Middleton, Mccollum, Brogdon. Trae Young is probably not gonna impact their tank and worst case scenerio he’s gonna sell tickets during their rebuild. They can brand off him and generate some buzz for the team.
For Atlanta I like this alot. I mean clearly nobody wanted Trae Young and there was no value in trading for him. But they still managed to address their lack of shooting and guard play. I watched Atlanta lose to Toronto in both games of a back to back and that team is super talented they just lack structure and disicipline. CJ has been stuck in some bad situations on immature teams since his Portland days but this seems like a really good fit for him to close out his career.
After drafting players to try and hide Trae Young defensively look at how versatile and unique this Hawks roster is. That teams future is bright. Like BTPH says you add a guard like Peterson or Flemings to that group they will be in great shape and hey even Philon would fit that teams defensive pressure approach as well.

NorrinRaddParticipantBig AD trade to the Wizards!!! I’m going to watch Utility Sports on this news… any thoughts on the trade???
Mavs are getting Middleton, AJ Johnson, Branham, Bagley III, 2 firsts, 3 seconds
Wizards are getting AD and Hardy, D. Russell, Exum…Wizards are trying to play the short/long game while the Mavs seem to hit reset around Cooper imo.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/04/2026 - 2:23am #1271128

BothTeamsPlayedHard-ParticipantUgh. Just a reminder, the Wizards gave away Deni Avdija a year and a half ago because the then 23-year old wasn’t “on their time time.”
