The NBA has stripped the right for Charlotte to host the 2017 NBA All-star Game. The state of North Carolina recently revoked anti discrimination laws towards gays, transexuals bisexuals. As a response the NBA has firmly stated they will not hold their event in a state that displays prejudice and inequality to those people. Bold move by the NBA.

I think the move was a little over the top.  NCAA recently said they won’t be holding any of the tourney games in NC anymore, and NC is one of the meccas of college basketball.  I just think it gets really messy when you mix politics with sports.  Albany also cancelled their trip to play at Cameron, citing this law as the reason.  That was a once in a lifetime opportunity for the young men on that team.  Jobs of people are being affected over a law they did not personally get legislated.  Just a bit overboard that the NCAA and NBA seem to want to stick their hands and affect the lives of those that had nothing to do with the legislation.  That is my two cents.  May the negs come rolling in.

The NCAA and NBA are pulling out of NC because of self-interest not social consciousness.

      1) Talented LGBT people may reconsider working for the NBA or a team’s management if they have to show up to events in NC.

      2) It would have looked really bad, if a LGBT person was mistreated or denied bathroom access at one of the basketball events.

The bill does not affect the LGB population as they likely already use the restrooms corresponding to the gender they were assigned at birth.    The bill does affect the trans population which is an estimated 0.3% in the USA.  If there was a greater population of people that identified as Trans, then your argument would hold a lot more weight.

Good point but not only that, imagine how big that elephant in the room would be. After earlier taking a stance helping Jason Collins come out which was a huge success and by being very critical on players for using words like "fagggot" which I don’t generally think Rondo said to be a homophobic but just used it as a general curse word.

The whole weekend would be dominated by this fact and really the last thing I want to see while tuning into the 2017 Slam Dunk Contest is a protest on Gay Rights.

If a man says he’s a woman when he wants to use a public restroom, the NBA says he’s a woman, but if a man says he’s a woman and wants to play in the WNBA, then he’s a man, and only women are allowed to play in the WNBA. How about a little consistency?
