While searching for Last year’s (2014) ESPN rankings of the NBA’s 400 players, I accidentally came across the 2012 List – it was Only 3 years ago but SIX of the Top 10 are no longer in the Top 10… I thought you guys would find it interesting…

3 years from now, in 2018, who do you think will be out & who do you think will be in? Quick side note I found interesting. The 76ers had the #13 ranked player & MANY espn analysts wrote that "coming off his breakout 2011 season Andrew Bynum will Certainly make the Top 10 List after a season leading the 76ers to the Atlantic Division tilte (their prediction) as the team’s #1 scoring option…" How Crazy is that!

     Here is the List:

    10. Derron Williams (Brooklyn Nets)                     5. Derrick Rose (Chicago Bulls)

    9. Russell Westbrook (OKC Thunder)                    4. Chris Paul (L.A. Clippers)

    8. Dwanyne Wade (Miami Heat)                             3. Dwight Howard (L.A. Lakers)

    7. Kevin Love (Minnesota T-Wolves)                     2. Kevin Durant (OKC Thunder)

    6. Kobe Bryant (L.A. Lakers)                                  1. Lebron James (Miami Heat)

Along w/ Bynum at #13 (& MANY writers argued that Bynum was THE best Big Man in the NBA & should be in the Top 10 Over Dwight Howard & Rondo Also belonged in the Top 10 OVER Westbrook of OKC) Rajon Rondo, Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki, Tony Parker, Tim Duncan, Carmelo Anthony & LaMarcus Aldride were also in the Top 20….

Wow things sure do change in 3 years!

Well to be fair to Bynum, he WAS a beast. He was near unstoppable in the post, and averaged 19 and 11 even with Kobe taking away a lot of his touches. Never thought he’d turn out like this, but injuries really killed him and of course his attitude. I really thought he’d be the one to turn Philly around.

for him & they gave up so much… I can’t believe it was only 3 years ago… I agree that he would have really elevated that franchise to possibly even the conference finals… & I didn’t realize that Rondo was still killing only 3 years ago… Amazing how fast things chage in such a short time…

Marc Gasol seems like the obvious choice, and I’d probably say Chris Paul will fall outside the top 10 by 2018 as well.  MAYBE Kawhi Leonard (though his debut the other night was sensational).  Beyond that, it really would only boil down to injuries IMO (ex: if Durant’s foot continues to bother him or if LeBron starts wearing down).

Hard to believe deron Williams was still considered a top 10 player that short of a time ago
