RUDEBOY_ParticipantHaving a signature move can often be a team’s bread & butter, when their team is looking to score….For years players have have perfected a certain move that allows them to get off a shot at any time and as often as they want….And Sometimes defenders have no answer for it..Who can forget Kareem’s skyhook,Olajuwon’s Dream Shake,Gervin’s Finger Roll ..Alot of today’s layers dont have a name for their best moves, but yet their moves are unstoppable and effective…
*
1.Lebron James (Attacking The Basket) -Defenders are at his mercy when he drives toward the basket..This has become his best and mst lethal move…
2.Dirk Nowitzski (Fadeway) -Dirk uses his length, skill and amazing shooting ability to get this shot off..This move drove the Dallas Mavericks to a championship in 2011 becuz the Maimi Heat didn’t have an answer for it…
*
3.Kobe Bryant-( Pump Fake) – Kobe uses amazing footwork and smarts for this move..He gets on his tip toes which draws defenders off balance..When Kobe is about to go for a shot,he then reverses pivots to get separation an a clear shot at the basket….http://youtu.be/o2_iAOsFrGs
*
4.Tim Duncan ( Bank Shot) -Duncan has used this move for over 15 seasons and yet defenders havent found a way to stop it….
5.Derrick Rose (Right Handed Floater) -Rose uses his great strength, amazing ball handling ability and natural ability to get into the paint….
6.Tony Parker ( Tear Drop) – Parker sets up defenders by going at them full speed ,but oce he gets within 15 feet of the basket he pulls up and drops 1 over the arms of a defender..http://youtu.be/UG4x-r3C78c
*
7.Chris Paul ( Step Back Pull-Up Jumper) -CP3 has made this his go to move..Paul comes off a screen and blast toward the basket before side stepping a defender for the open shot..
8.Steve Nash ( 1 Foot Jumper) -Nash’s great passing skills and shooting skills often leave defenders worried about what he’s going to do with the ball..This unique, but unothodox move is a thing of beauty…..
*
9.Rajon Rondo (Fake Pass) – Rondo utilizes the stationery ball fake to set up open teammates ,by psyching out defenders …
10.Manu Ginobili (2 Step) – People who say the Spurs are boring must hate them, becuz any fan that loves basketball cant help but love watching Manu play..1 of his best moves is the 2 Step,in which he covers the ground in just 2 easy strides…Not only is he great at attacking the basket,he’s been 1 of the nba’ best finishers…
*
11.Carmelo Anthony ( Jab Step) – Melo along with Kobe & Durant are the nba’s 3 most polished offensive players ..That doesnt mean they’re the 3 best players, even though i think Kobe and Durant are top 5 and Melo maybe in the 7 to 12 range…It means they have no weakness on the offensive end..Melo’s jab step has become has favorite moves..When he squares his shoulders to the basket , a defender has to respect 2 things * his jump shot and his dribble drive..Melo also can create space with his jab step…
12.Paul Pierce ( Step Back Jumper) – Pierce draws defenders out to the foul line and then steps back to gain separation on his shot..Pierce and go either left or right…

steviechillzParticipantOne day this will be unguardable:
Russell Westbrook Mid-Range – Unguardable bc he can get it off whenever and he’s athletic enough to rise up and get over the defender…its just whether or not he can make it consistently

mikeyvthedonParticipantIt is cool you make a list, but give credit where it is due, man:
http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/49606/signature-moves
Even he does:

I know you add a little of your own flavor, but you got some inspiration from somewhere else. Give that place credit and let other people see the alternatives. It is not necessarily plagairism, just think that you can say, "Hey, this is where I got the idea for this."

ChewyParticipanthave been a notoriously boring (yet successful) franchise. BUT if you think the Spurs are boring then you obviously didn’t watch them last year. They moved more towards a style that suits Parker instead of Duncan. They ran more, Parker was agressive, Ginobli was Ginobli, K Leonard had a very good rookie season and ran the floor well. Gary Neal was draining 3’s, and they had young bigs like Blair and Splitter playing big minutes in the regular season….
This isn’t your daddy’s Spurs team anymore.

Bird_YearsParticipantLabelling this list "Unstoppable" is a bit of a misnomer, "Signature" as the opening paragraph says is more appropriate. In the history of the NBA there haven’t been very many unstoppable moves, except for a few big man moves, almost everything can be stopped by somebody.

220ParticipantSignature would be better than unstoppable. I personally would’ve labeled these moves as the hardest to defend. I’ve seen all of these moves bested at some time, but they are undoubtedly very difficult to stop.

c-dubeParticipantI’d go with Dirk’s Fadeaway by far.

F_Sat the end of the day kevin durant pull ups are the most unstoppable… he can shoot it right over the defense
when okc games are tight in the 4th or in ot YOU KNOW kevin durant and westbrook are going to score, and no1 can do anything about it.
props to steviechillz for mentioning westbrook midrange pull up, it is unstoppable. he can get that shot off anytime he wants pretty much, and its not because the defense lets him.
i would rank westbrook midrange pullup at least top 5 in the most unstoppable.

joecheck88ParticipantAs far as one of a kind signature moves. Dirk and his one foot fadeaway comes to mind. Tony Parker and his little teardrop floater. After that there aren’t many signature moves. Just things some guys are much better than most. Maybe the best signature moves is Paul Pierce’s fake serious injury an return for some clutch buckets. Lol.

TallmanNYCParticipantThese are signature moves, good call above. They are tough moves, but a lot of them don’t actually result in a score that often. There is a HUGE difference between the Lebron basket attack (probably he gets the bucket or goes to the FT line 60+% of the time and this is truely the most potent weapon in the league) than the Kobe pump fake which might get Kobe a 50/50 shot and little to no chance of drawing a foul. The Dirk fadeaway is an amazing bailout move because it is so hard to stop. But it is a move to do when other better shots aren’t available. It is an amazing shot because of how much he hits it and how far from the basket he can continue to hit it at a decent clip. But lots of players in the league can score more effeciently than Dirk (even Dirk of a few years ago). They just can’t score like Dirk that far from the hoop.
We have "Points Per Shot" stats now. I suspect you would be shocked at how low some of the players on your list actually are in how many points they score compared to how many shots they take. Melo as your "top 3" NBA guy on offense doesn’t really jive with his mediocre 1.21 points per shot stat (by comparison Harden scores a ridiculous 1.66 points per shot). He looks fluid and smooth a lot of the time. And he has an amazing number of moves. But no, those jab steps from 20 feet really aren’t fooling anyone. Melo can’t consistently win games shooting 20 foot jumpers. It isn’t his fault, no one can win games shooting 20 foot jumpers. Problem is Melo never got the memo on that so he will keep taking those unless you play him as a PF and put him in the low post.
By the way, I gave you a plust 1 because it was a nice post even if I’m not agreeing with it. That is just cause you called them unstoppable. If these don’t go in that much, they are stopped. It doesn’t matter if the defender really didn’t have that much to do with stopping them.
