Right now everyone is so fascinated with the big name guys, that they forget about the prospect(s) that will stick around for a few more seasons to fine tune their skills and make bigger impacts. My key Fr. prospect that I will follow on a consistent basis from here on out is Texas PG Isaiah Taylor. It’s just something about this guy that says to me he will be huge 1 day.

6’10 240 lbs Frosh. Going on his mormon mish this summer but should be back even more of a beast. Needs to learn D without fouling and develop a jumpshot but has great footwork on offense. Remember the name

I agree with Taylor, he looked like virtually unguardable against UNC earlier this years. Rondo like.

I like Taylor too. He’s long and athletic for his height, is a terror in the open court, and has serioius potential on defense. That being said, he has a ways to go IMO, which still stays true to your original point. His main weakness is his outside shooting. Nearly all of his points this year have come in the lane and he needs to continue to work on his point guard skillset, as he currently splits those duties with Javan Felix and Demarcus Holland.

All in all, I agree he has nice potential and could be looked at in the mid to high first round, but I think he’s got some work to do before I can view him a future star and total difference maker in the NBA.

He had a great game last night, and he only had 1 turnover as well. Against an uptempo squad like Iowa State, he took it to them in the open court and getting fouled in the lane. To illustrate my point though, he was 4-8 on layups and dunks and 4-12 from jumpers, with all 4 of his makes from 8-14 feet being floaters.

What I like most about him, is that he changes the game in the transition game and getting to the hoop. He has a nice future.

I just hope he does not pull a fast 1 on us by declaring early off the strength of early success and bad people in his ear.

One freshman who is a stud that does not get much national hype is Nigel Hayes for Wisconsin. Bo Ryan sure hit a homerun landing him.

The freshman at Santa Clara has been scoring with the top freshmen in the country. He has NBA range and can really handle the ball.

I’m not saying he’s a future star or anything, but I believe he should get a look following his junior or senior season.
