kanuflengParticipantand they won too! if given the minutes, he’ll really produce. right now his confidence is sky high. there was a time it was back and forth between him and Lin. Offensively he’s more ready than Wiggins. His transition to PG has really helped his ball-handling and combine with his scoring instincts, future’s bright along with Wiggy.

tuck243ParticipantHe really doesn’t have a feel of a PG and would really benefit from attending CP3 camp… He doesn’t really get them into sets and take long 2’s randomly… His off hand needs work and his passing instincts? Horrid… He has a long way to go, but lucky for him Rubio is still out so he’ll have all the time he needs to develop…

Jr. ROXASParticipantYup he’s more suited as a 2 guard than a point. Whenever he’s running the point he seems to caught up in putting his back on the defender to protect the ball that the offense takes too long to set up. He’s not that confident with his handles yet the way I see it and often fails to make the pass to a player coming off off-screens that will get them to their sets. I see him as a 2-guard all the way and I hope that will be his primary position throughout his career as that is where he’ll flourish.

livinlegend4blkParticipantYou have no clue of what you’re talking about he was a 5ft11 point guard in high school he had a growth spurt before he got to college and during college which now makes him 6ft6 with a very skinny frame he just need experience he knows what it’s like to be short lol…

tuck243ParticipantI’m just calling what I see… I think he has all the talent in the world and is actually playing better than expected.. "If"’his main position is PG then he has a lot of work… PG is more than just bringing the ball up the court, you have to understand pace, time, and how to control the game… All of which he’s unable to do at this point. All I’m doing is pointing out his flaws, I’m not saying he’s a terrible player. Lol

phila9012ParticipantI dont think he is a PG, but it is good for him to be playing it now because it gives him extra touches. He still plays very little defense, as you saw Lin blow by him a few times and doesnt really have the passing instincts. I think he has showed more than I expected to see from him this year. In a few years with his work ethic he will be a good player capable of getting 15 to 18 ppg whether that is off the bench or starting.

B-ball fanParticipantBut he has Jamal Crawford potential. Excellent shot maker with no conscience. Not much of a passer and is not that great at getting to the rim. He tends to work on keeping his dribble alive, as he sometimes picks it up in bad spots. But he is a smooth ball-handler who can rise up and score at almost any time, so he just needs to keep growing in that role. When Rubio gets back, he can slide to his more natural position of SG.

Memphisboy14ParticipantI personally see him as a more athletic Kevin Martin. I don’t know where the heck all the Russell Westbrook comparisons came from last year outside of them both having played for UCLA.

river09ParticipantI like this comparison a lot more than I thought at first. Outside of Martin’s unique release I think Lavine could thrive in a very similar role. He has very similar tools athletically (especially first step quickness) and skill wise (obviously his jumper isn’t on par with Martin’s yet), in the right place I wouldn’t be surprised if he developed into something very similar.

Meditated StatesParticipantHe is clearly capable at both positions i disagree with him not having passing instincts be ause when i watch he clearly does. He will play both positions well as expected and that is what makes him a special talent.

capecodderParticipantIt’s irrelevant whether a player is a 1 or 2 ….look at the Celtics of the 80s with Ainge and Johnson….the question is…is he a basketball player….if he is…play him

DolanCareParticipantHe’s body movements and in-game mentality reminds me of Gerald Green. He’s so explosive with the ball, and when his shot is falling he’s a nightmare. But I don’t think Lavine should strive to be a heat-check guy. He just has potential as a playmaker and a defender.
I don’t think an offense should ever run through Lavine, but he has all of the ability to be an All-Star as a well rounded basketball player. I will be a tad disappointed if he ends up being another Jamal Crawford. No disrespect to Jamal, just think Lavine’s ceiling is that high.

BiggysmallsParticipantHe’s not a point guard. There’s alot more to playing point guard then dribbling the ball up the floor and playing pick n roll. LaVine isn’t great at breaking people down off the bounce, and settle for poor shots at times. He also doesn’t have the feel of a pro point guard right now. Whoever said it is more about understanding pace, positioning, getting guys into the right spots hit it on the head.
Not that he can’t get there, but right now he has a looong way to go if he is going to be a point guard. I like him a lot in that Crawford role where he can be a ball handler off the bench but not necessarily a point guard. Not illegal for shooting guards to be able to dribble…I think that gets forgotten these days.
