ropeParticipantWhich player on your team do you think will outperform expectations this year. Doesn’t have to be a rookie – could be a vet.
On the Pistons I think it just might be Cartier Martin. I pick him partially because the expectations are pretty low and partially because he is a good 3 point shooter on a team that doesn’t have many. With Van Gundy’s emphasis on the 3 as part of his inside / outside strategy, I am thinking Martin will have a career year – maybe 12 or 13 points a game.

kazamParticipantRaptors- Greg Stiemsma. I think he will be given an opportunity to play real meaningful minutes- Jonas is still foul prone. Wouldnt be surprised to see him take some of the minutes that may have previously gone to Psycho T.

high floorParticipantMost expect Tobias Harris to play well and have a nice season, but overall I think people are sleeping on how productive he can be. It doesn’t look like management is going to extend him before the Oct. 31st deadline, so he’ll have a lot of motivation to play well. Tobias will also be the main scoring option for Orlando now that Oladipo is out for the first 15-20 games.
People are looking at his production last season of 14.6pts & 7.0rebs per game and say his upside is limited. But the Orlando Front Office is notorious for slow playing injury reports, and Tobias just did not look 100% the first half of last season due to his ongoing ankle problems from the previous summer. I say he plays with a chip on his shoulder, and averages 18-20ppg and somewhere in the neighborhood of 8.5 rebounds.

machu46ParticipantI don’t really know how to answer this for the Bucks. Some have completely overrated Giannis while some have completely underrated him. I think he can put up around 14, 6, 3, 1.5, 1.5 this year.
I don’t know how non-Bucks fans feel, but most Bucks fans despise Brandon Knight. I think he can surprise Bucks fans this year and put up similar numbers to last year on better efficiency.
I think my pick to exceed expectations would be Larry Sanders. It seems like everyone thinks two years ago was a fluke and that he’s pretty much worthless now. I think he’ll average a double-double while playing elite defense. Something like 12, 11, and 3 blocks is definitely doable for him.

ropeParticipantI feel the Pistons gave up on Knight too quickly. I would rather have him that Jennings.
Not sure that Knight will have the same scoring numbers – there will be more options on the Bucks this year. I do think he will be more efficient and effective.

rileymcshea3ParticipantAs a Mavs fan I’ll go with Jameer Nelson. After getting Tyson Chandler and Chandler Parsons this off season, the addition of a Jameer flew under the radar. We lost our 2 main 3 point shooters in Calderon and Vince, but Jameer will fill that role perfectly. With guys like Parson, Monta, and Dirk I think Jameer is the perfect guy to spread the court for them to go to work on the offensive end. May not be the best defensive player, but he is a verteran with finals experience that will serve this team well.
I don’t expect him to put up great numbers, but he fits this team perfectly allowing the Mavs to compete with anyone this year.

Moon RiverParticipantI think the expectations for OJ Mayo are next to nothing. He has to exceed expectations based on that. I have not completely given up on him and he is too talented not to have a rebound year. I am sure he wants out of Milwaukee and the only way to do that is to play well, or be in the last year of his contract, which he is not.

OhCanada-ParticipantLast year John Salmons averaged a little over 20-mpg. Lou Williams should takr those minutes while also taking some minutes from Derozan and Lowry lightning up the load. He was injured for most of the year with Atl and never really gelled in that sustem. In the dribble hand of/pick and roll system Toronto plays he should thrive.
James Johnson could also surprise some people. He had his best season in Toronto and is already familiar with most of the players on the roster having played with Vazquez, Derozan, Johnson, Patterson, and Hayes before.
In limited minutes likely 22-26mpg for Williams and 16-20 mpg for Johnson both players should do well. If injuries hit Toronto this year both players should be able to fill the void well. Amir Johnson and Kyle Lowry usually play through tough injuries with the depth Toronto added this year they likely wont have to.

Flameres15ParticipantFor the Blazers I think Dorell Wright could be their break out player. He is a great shooter and an average defender when given meaningful minutes. He can play the 2, 3, and stretch 4. His value should be shown in the playoffs. The Blazers need a bench player that can score, and if Wright can up his three-point percentage, he should be able to be that player.
I wanted it to be Thomas Robinson, as he was one of my favorite players in the 2012 draft, but he doesn’t have the reliablity offensively or defensively.

Scrooge McDuckParticipantDorel Wright hit a slump last year and I lost confidence in him. He’s never conrtributed on a playoff team. My choice for a breakout player would be Will Barton. He can play PG, SG and SF and I believe he fits the 6th man role well. He’s streaky and makes mistakes but he plays with energy and makes the highlight reel!

Jr. ROXASParticipantBarton’s nice but cmon.. McCollum!! He’s going to be their Mo Williams this year and will be the scoring option off the bench.

rich.homie.mitchParticipantI was hoping for CJ McCollum. Wright is a nice player he just turns the ball over to much and he was in a shooting slump last season, he also averaged 16 points at one time in his carrer. I’m pretty sure one year he led the league in 3 pointers made. For me the bench scorer would be McCollum, he really understands the game and has nice moves.

nill650ParticipantThe Cleveland Cavs are loaded now, but dion waiters is being fairly under-estimated with the media focused on the next big 3.
There is no way the cavs org didnt see that when they agreed to trade wiggins even if it was for a top 10 player in klove.,.Mark my words: Waiters will far exceed the expectations (which are not that high compared to the hype of the other three) esp in the playoffs.
as far as other teams are concerned:
The Cavs drove the canadians north to Minny for a one yr rental of kevin love.(I know he’ll probably stay in Cleveland…but still, what if he leaves?)
Wiggins will excell on both ends of the court much faster than most people seem to think…and Bennett will prove to be at the very least a lottery level player offensively and break into the rotation as the 2nd pf behind young by december 1.

Pistol Pete. The PelicanParticipantAustin Rivers will exceed expectations. It’s crazy how biased people are towards him. Last year he showed a ton of improvement, and I think he will show more this year. He led the Pelicans in assists in the preseason, mainly by driving and kicking to Ryan Anderson, Salmons, Jimmer, and Darius Miller. He won’t lead them during the season, but off of the bench for 20 minutes, he will put his dribbling skills and quick first step to work, and attack the basket, and find open 3 point shooters.
It’s also easy for him to exceed expectations since they are so low for him.
I think he’ll put up 9 points a game, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, while shooting 37% from three, 42% from the field, and 68% from the line. Once again improving his stat line, and having a per of around 13-14.

llperezfor the lakers, im going with ronnie price. He started at pg over lin in the preseason and i expect those 2 to be about 50/50 in playing time once he gets healthy. Price shoots it well enough to keep defenses honest and he really gets after it on defense, might be the best defender on the lakers. GOing into preseason he was considered borderline ot even make the team and it didnt take long for him to establish that his spot was secure. He also had back to back games late in the preseason with 10 assists to show he can be a bit of a playmaker as well. I could see him play about 23 minutes per and averagte 8 points 5 assists and make his mark on defense with the team playing better with him in even though his stats might not be flashy.

apb540ParticipantNot much to choose from here, plus the expectations are already rather low, so I’ll go with Tony Wroten for the Sixers. I need to be entertained while I watch another 82 game tank and Tony Wroten does just that. Plus with MCW out, he’s an awesome Daily Fantasy Sports play at near minimum price on most sites lol.
