baggin13ParticipantHaven’t seen either a ton, but I think they are both terrific players and it sounds like they are possible candidates to replace Kevin Love in MN. My question is who between Thaddeus Young and Taj Gibson is the better, or who you think would better fit with MN?

juves4783Participanti think thad young is more versatile offensively. he is probably a natural 3 that plays better at the 4 because he’s not a great 3 point shooter. he’s almost a poor man’s josh smith in my opinion (not a great post defender).
in gibson, you get a great rim protector and enforcer that does the dirty work. he has a nice deep mid range game as well. he’s a couple years older than thad but came into the league at 23 or 24 as i remember.
in minny, i’d say either would fit but thad would provide more scoring punch and probably stretches the floor better for rubio to penetrate and pek to man the paint.

ZarathustraParticipantI’ll go with Gidson solid offense and really good defense.I agrre thta Young might be the best fit offensivelly but Gibson could cover the Pekovic defense wich his not elite at the least.

TheArtistPaysthePriceParticipantand is not a free agent after the season. Thad has a ETO for 2015-16 while Gibson has three years left and makes 1.5 million more. Besides he is more tradeable and valued around the League. Philly couldn’t get a first for Young last year and if Gibson was on the block he would probably get you a top 10 protected pick.
I think both of those players can help a team win and very few players play as efficiently both ways as Gibson in the entire League.

NeggedNoelSaricGibson. Is 28 or 29
Never had eye popping numbers is a solid player. great on defense
But thad is a better. fit with pek
Is a scorer
Also better with rubio a true athlete
Hes younger. Also and has shown he can take a team to the playoffs as a top scorer in a weak east…so he could be a huge x factor on a team

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantHe’s become incredibly overrated by some people and while he’s a very good defender and has some offensive skills he’s not as good as Thad Young
People forget Gibson plays with Noah and is coached by Tom Thibodeaux! He is going to look very efficient while never being more than a dirty worker who hits the glass and takes an occasional mid range jumper…
I was a big “Taj Gibson is Underrated” supporter, but that was before people jumped the shark and started hyping him up as a Starting Pf on another team and actually having an impact larger than his impact on the Bulls
Thad Young would be my pick if I had to choose between he and Taj Gibson
I’ll make a friendly wager with anyone that he’ll be nothing more than a 4th option/defender/dirty worker no matter where he goes, Thad has been a 6th/Good Starter and soon to be Team Captain and he’s only 25-26 years old!
Thad is also not a bad defensive player and I’d seriously like to see what he’d do if put in Taj Gibson’s role in Chicago, he would be a much better offensive weapon and would actually give the Bulls a 2nd or 3rd option on offense, right now it’s Rose, Gasol and ??? Butler, McDermott or Noah???

druneave3ParticipantI loved Young (and Crittenton) before the draft but haven’t watched him very much throughout his career. If I knew he could guard the SF position better and wasn’t considered a tweener I would ride with him. Is that a big knock on his game still?
If this question remains I would go with Taj who is an extremely versatile defender. His offensive game last year was truly underrated. Showed some really nice moves near the basket and an ability to finish creatively will also throwing down monster dunks like he has his entire career (on D-Wade tho!). His feet and injury/Thibs factor would be a concern but I have loved Taj since his days at USC. His length, defense, and effort are things I love from my PF position.

TRC1991ParticipantDefinitely going with Taj Gibson. He’s the best non-starting big man in the NBA. His midrange jump shot is on point, and he’s a beast defensively. Thad Young is a tweener with no discernable go-to skill.

ExumInfernoParticipantTo replace Love, Thaddeus is a much better fit. Gibson is a much better defender, but Minnesota can use Deng for that role.
Thad can score in a bunch of ways, and with Love gone they will have a need for scoring.

ditotayParticipantwith Taj. His offense had improved a lot since he entered the league and he is already one of the best rim protectors of the league. If Minn retains Pek Taj could be an awesome addition down low. Young is younger and has a better offensive game, but I think much of the problems the Wolves has is rim protection. And with Rubio as a pass first PG Taj could get some good open looks for that much improved mid range jumpshot
