roni3ParticipantJabari is starting to become the player we all saw signs off before his injury. Not to mention the scouting report was so off on him, above average athlete maybe even closer to elite in terms of first step and explosion off the dribble. Kid is shooting around 70% at the rim and all those highlights of him dunking on people. Defensively his lateral movement is not slow what so ever. Just needs to put in more hustle and maybe trim down a bit too. He can be a stud and matchup nightmare at pf.
As a laker fan Ingram fits our needs really well, not to mention a pick and roll of him and Russell sounds a bit bad ass. That being said I am a bit afraid of his shot selection and lack of vertical explosion. Has a great handle, first step and end to end speed but the explosion part might limit him at the rim in the same way it does with melo.
As of right now I would have to go with Parker.

IlladelphParticipantNo question here. Ingram has way more upside. Parker was always billed as NBA-ready, and he was more skilled as a college player than Ingram was initially. But just look at Ingram’s progression through his year at Duke and there is no question in my mind that he has way more upside, and will ultimately be a star in the NBA. Ingram’s body is still developing, and in a few years when his body catches up to his skill level, he is going to be a major star. Parker will have a nice career, but he has less upside and I see him as a solid starter but not destined for stardom like Ingram is.

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantIngram’s knees haven’t be surgically repaired to this point. Any time you are an explosive player and you have had knee surgery it takes something away from your game. I like Parker’s game but would have to select the player that hasn’t had his knees rebuilt. Over time if a player ends up needing a microfracture they might as well hang it up and be able to walk with their kids later in life. D. Rose and Stoudamire were incredible players until their injuries and now they are nearly done and going to be having surgeries for the rest of their lives in attempt to live normally.

BeastMode716ParticipantAnd b/c I spent my whole life watching TV I thought I would just bounce back…….. Your body is just never the same…… you lose something…….. For an elite athlete like Parker it’s probably imperceptable to us fans……. But it’s def going to take the edge off that natural explosiveness which is so improtant to Basketball players……
I still luv Parker…… & maybe it’s b/c I, like everyone else, am enamored w/ Potential……… but Ingram measurable’s are just too hard to pass up…….. He’s not Kevin Durant……… but Ingram could grow into a great 2nd scoring option b/c he can shoot from deep, drive to the hole & he can work off ball screens so he does Not need to be ball dominant………….
I also Luv his length on Defense……. It’s close, but I’d give the edge to Ingram……….

Stop_basketball_nonsenseParticipantI was so excited to watch jabari vs Wiggins when duke played kansas in college, especially after so much hype about him, but I still don’t respect his defense, & regardless of injury his 3 pt shot hasn’t shown in the nba.
I think Ingram will be a solid defender and has much more potential on that side of the floor. He also was a more consistent 3pt threat at duke, and in my opinion he will be in the nba. Ingram needs to add weight, jabari needs to shed some, I think those whose have weight to lose vs the other way have more fluidity.
Also to celtics thug, I think most people get you question, but to ask who will have more moderate success considering moderate means average isn’t a question I would ask considering 2 high level forwards , maybe you were looking for a different words, and messed up typing, I hope.

Stop_basketball_nonsenseParticipantI have a better question altogether, who will have a better career. Parker or Ingram?
Simple right? Ingram isn’t in the nba yet.

phila9012ParticipantWith jabari’s surprising athleticism, I could see him being a 3 or 4 time all star and great second option. All he needs is a shot and to improve his rebounding and he will be really good. I think he become a better paul milsap. I don’t get the durant comparisons for ingram. He is not nearly as fluid of an athlete as durant was coming out. I think they both have similar ceilings. Ingram will probably develop into a great second option and secondary playmaker.

HitsterParticipantIf it had been a straight choice on draft night between the two of them both entering the NBA then I’d have taken Parker. If I had 2nd pick this year and Bucks offered me Parker to flip it then I’d say no.
I’m a fan of both guys but we have yet to see Ingram in the NBA and Parker has come off major surgery. As people have said an explosive player like Parker may have lost a bit of athleticism long term after surgery and to have it so early in his career was a worry. When Jabari first returned this season he didn’t look that sharp and I was prepared to write this season off for him and see how he went after a summer break and a full pre-season. But post All Star game he put up some very good numbers and looks as if he could have a real break out year next season.
