Lotto StudParticipantIt’s very funny how everyone was bashing my Nets last year saying we would not win over 10 games but hey!!!!!! we did. It’s kind’ve hard to believe the Wizards have plenty of talent on their roster & can’t win a road game. They are 22-23 games or so in on the road without a victory, I find that very strange.
Out of all the players on that squad I feel for Nick Young, because he leaves it all on the floor night in & night out.

WizardofOzParticipantBlame the head coach. Flip is an idiot. Booker fouls out and he brings in Yi instead of Al Thornton when Booker was guarding Durant. Now what, we put guys like Lewis & Andray Blatche on Durant? Should’ve put Al on him. He’s still more of a perimeter guy.
But this is a young team and they just aren’t mentally tough enough to win on the road. They make too many dumb mistakes late in the game when you think they’ll close it out. I just hope this game wasn’t too physically draining on the guys because they played so many minutes and they play tommorow night. I just hope we can pick up a win tommorow night against Memphis.

KayjayParticipantSomeone said on this site a while back before I made this account best.
"You don’t win with youth, you start with it."
It may seem like just an excuse, but much like the Sacramento Kings with that ass load of talent they have. You’ll notice they have moments of brilliance, but they can’t close for shit. Barely now the Grizzlies have learned to share the ball a little bit more effectively. And it translates into wins. Its youth after all. You’ll have some guys that come in and think its all about scoring, and they usually learn its not all about that (I hope Nick Young learns) then they learn to improve their game doing more like being active on boards or something. Its youth man, and I think Wizard of OZ is right. It takes time to find the right coach. Most these young teams lack the right coach.
IE: Sacramento, Wizards, Clippers ect.

WizardofOzParticipantAnd Wall REALLY needs to improve his defense. He got SHREDDED by Westbrook tonight. He just plays too far off of his man. It kind of worked a little bit late in the game because Westbrook got tired and is not known as a very good shooter. This was reasonable because Westbrook is a very good PG, but he’s also getting SKOOL’D by scrubs like Keyon Dooling and Earl Boykins. He doesn’t get into a good defensive stance, he trys to cheat off his man too much for steals, and shadows his defender WAY BACK instead of getting in his grill. That being said, he has all the tools to become a great defender. The coaches need to work with him in the offseason in that area.

Da1potParticipantWall hesitated on just about all of his shot attempts tonight…. he is seriously lacking confidence in his jumper right now and that what evident by the fact he shot with about 4 or 5 different shooting forms tonight…. lol. Wall should have ended up with much more points because he probably missed about 4-5 makable layups also- including one that was wide open and might have been the difference between the Wizards winning the game.

KayjayParticipantThis is what we call the rookie wall. Some hit a shooting slump, some have poor shot selection. But in the worst case scenario (Wall’s) they lose confidence in their shot. Not good for your PG to lack confidence in anything really.

SwatLakeCityParticipantWizards should sign a veteran player just like the Grizzlies did with Tony Allen. Before Allen, the Grizzlies were struggling to make the playoffs year in and year out with very talented rosters featuring Mayo, Gay, Randolph, Gasol, and Conley. They had the talent just not the ability to close out tight games. Now they are still not in the playoffs but at least they are close. (Like a half game to a game out instead 3 or 4 games out) Do that and get rid of Flip Saunders and the Wizards should be able to win road games.

BKKnicksfanParticipantIf I’m Washington, I’m sitting there with the only untouchable players on the roster are John Wall and JaVale McGee
I believe Washington should be able to move the Lewis contract and Hinrich contract once they get down to the final season because with the NBA changing the cap and salary numbers, 24 mil (Lewis) and 8 mil ( Hinrich) will be nice cap space for someone…might even be Washington. In this year’s free agency/draft, I think Washington should go shooting guard and power forward. I think moving Blatche is the BEST idea. If Washington could get a pick within the 3-8 range, I suggest Sullinger because he can bang and is very polish opposite of McGee’s raw athleticism.

Lotto StudParticipant"the only untouchable players on the roster are John Wall and JaVale McGee"
Nick Young is untouchable too……Just ask the players who he been putting 25pts or better on.
If this was the NFL I would tag him every year.

BKKnicksfanParticipant….No he’s not. All he does is score. That’s cool, but he could show to defend. If he’s a piece someone wants in a deal for a better player, he’s gone.
0- Posted on: Sat, 01/29/2011 - 5:51pm #480472
WizardofOzParticipantYou obviously haven’t watched him play lately because he’s been defending very well this season. He’s really improved his defense from years past. He’s not a flashy defender (not going to get a lot of steals and chase-down blocks), but he stays in front of his man. He’s not a lockdown defender because very good players can still score a good clip on him, but he’s arguably been the Wizards best perimeter defender this season.
And he’s not the most complete player, but he’s been passing and rebounding at a higher rate as of late and I hope he keeps it up. I won’t say he’s untouchable, but I would have to see a great deal for me to pull the trigger on a trade that includes him.

Lotto StudParticipantAll Rondo do is pass…….So what’s your point?????

BKKnicksfanParticipantAll Rondo do is pass…….So what’s your point?????
Incorrect. Rondo is the best passer in the NBA, he’s the best defensive point guard in the NBA and has proven to be one of the better playoff point guards in the NBA. He was one of the main reasons why Boston remains relevant even though Allen and Garnett have been declining lately.
With Nick Young, all he does is score. If someone wanted Nick Young in a package, he would 9/10 times be moved. Rondo is a top 15 player in the NBA, Nick Young is a decent 6th man. The Wizards could move him and then add J.R. Smith in the offseason and not miss a beat.

He’s a average defender at best. That’s it.

If I had the choice right now, I would take Nick Young over J.R. Smith ANY DAY.

BKKnicksfanParticipantThat’s fair, but Young and Smith provide alot of the same things…that where I was going.
