No one expected New Orleans to win the lottery. The expectation was that whoever landed this pick might use it to trade for Davis. Now that’s off the table. David griffin seems convinced he can still get davis to stay. Seems considerably more plausible now.

absolutely not lol. Why would he, Zion is a freak athlete, but with his lack of shooting and handles he’ll struggle to score early in his career.

My gut tells me AD stays. David Griffin is a top 5 GM in the league in my opinion. They should seriously consider moving the franchise to Seattle because AD and Zion could be prolific

Doubt it, AD doesn’t seem to want to stay in NO anymore. If I’m Griffin I would be on the phone with NY offering AD for the 3rd, DSJ, and Knox. Barrett, Zion, DSJ, and Knox sounds like a good core to rebuild around.

Boston can offer a better deal to NO than the Knicks. Tatum, Brown, draft picks.

I don’t see them trading Tatum AND Brown for a rental, no matter how good.

You’d have to say yes, AD, Zion Jrue is pretty nasty.

Geez the Suns got the raw end dropping to 6th!

Interesting to see if the Grizz shop Conley still because they will get super low balled with everyone expecting them to take Ja. They should look at RJ.

The Lakers will have to consider DeAndre Hunter. He’d be a great fit next to Bron, or they could swing for the fence and take Bol Bol.

The Knicks will have drama playing DSJ and Morant especially if they get Kyrie, so it will be tough if the Grizz take RJ.

The Lakers getting 4th pick gave them a big trading chip but NOP have won the Zion stakes and pairing him with AD gives them potentially one of the best front courts in the NBA almost from day one.

AD and NOP can be in a win/win situation as he has that mega max deal on the table and if he signs that with the understanding that if the team doesn’t progress how he wants then they will be open to trading him in a year or two etc to a team of his liking. He can then move on with his mega deal and because he’d be locked in for several years then NOP get a better return and they still have Zion.

Put that supermax on the table and dare him to turn it down

Its a load of money to turn down even if you are as rich as AD especially given he has had a few durability issues over the years – missing nearly a third of the season again this year.

Its a gamble. Hypethetically lets say he wins 2 championships with Lebron playing in LA, makes a movie and all that other stuff, he can make alot more off of other avenues.

Shams just reported AD stance has not changed on a trade. Like I said. No way this will be different in a couple of months

I think he’ll still be traded and should be, as should Jrue at 28 years old.  It’s time to rebuild with Zion as one of the best centerpieces in the history of rebuilds.   They’ll be in the lottery next season and could add several lottery picks and young prospects over the next few years.  Great position to be in.

I don’t think they keep AD. If they wanted to, they’d trade Zion for one of the best SG’s or SF’s. Sounds crazy. I wouldn’t do it, but if you want to keep AD, that’s what you do.

Does anyone else think Zion and Julius Randle is a weird fit?

They should trade Randle too.  David doesn’t want to be there and it’s time to rebuild.

He has a player option this summer he most likely will opt out and be a free agent. If Brooklyn doesn’t get anyone big I can see them going for him, he’d be a perfect fit and a potential all star there.

TheScore just reported AD still wants out. Doesn’t give a damn about the number 1 pick.

The pelicans are in average but at the same time lucky spot.

The got really lucky by landing the Number 1 pick which either gives them an asset to trade for 2nd star to pair with A.D or A Key piece to build around so loss isn’t as horrible if they do move A.D.

If they go to A.D I will trade for insert name here will you stay sort of move.Which he would have to have signed on the dotted line first though…Before you even think of risking it.

    or

Trade A.D for as much youth and as high a pick +Future pick/Picks

Teams that could be in the mix:

Memphis: Mike Conley,The number 2 pick and multiple future picks. Works $Wise and Gives the Pelicans a Solid Veteran to pair With Jrue if kept or another trade tool for maybe more picks(Suns may make a move for him so you could also get another top 10 pick). This would give them oportunity to take both Zion and Ja if that was who they wanted.Grizlies could then parlay A.D into something else if that was more appealing to them-See Knicks deal if that is what they wanted.

Lakers: Ball,Kuzma,Ingram(if Clots don’t end career),Hart,The Number four pick+ a future first top 5 protected for A.D and an average deal. Alot for A.D but you only do this if you have a backdoor F.A keen if A.D is brought in.

Celtics-The infamous Taytum,Brown,Terry R and Multiple Multiple first round picks and they would probably have to get at least a top 5-10 pick in this draft to go with Youth. You only do this if you want him out East.

Chicago-They could be a random team that jumps in mix if they could trade Lauri M,Dunn,Their pick,Lavine and a couple more firsts..But as above moved out east only reason.

Not saying these are great deals as I am sure people might find other ones but possible options we could see thrown out there..

I think AD wants to compete for a championship next year. Zion as great as he is won’t make NO title contenders for 2 to 3 years.

I would strongly consider the #3 pick DSJ and Knox for AD. Just becasue I would want to pair RJ and Zion.

I’d rather have those two than any of the Lakers guys.

Knicks are terrible and don’t have enough for AD, Lakers either.

Chicago could give Lauri, Denzel and two number ones (this year and 2021)

AD plays for his hometown team, pairs with Carter and Lavine…might be fun

I highly doubt they would value you Lauri that high. He is a good player but his that kind of fringe player thath he might make an the all star team. Valentine is just a bench guy. After the third pick everyone knows the talent level drops. Bulls pick isn’t worth much

RJ could be a guy who makes like 5 all star games in a row after his second year. The jury is still out on DSJ and Knox.

I see your point. But Lauri is only 21, and already avg 17pp in the league. Maybe he’s a good stats/bad team guy, but it’s worth a look.

And I’ve watched Duke all year…RJ could be Dwayne Wade, or Wes Matthews. He’s a nice player. But if he makes an All Star Game more than 2x in his career, I’ll be suprised.

I believe he’ll still want out. He seems to be done with the organization as a whole and a rookie alone, however talented, won’t change that.

Where AD would find a better situation to compete than in NO with Zion, Jrue and another max slot?

In that scenario, AD’s getting a rookie, a nice rotation player, and empty cap space that probably won’t amount to anything significant. I see no reason for him to change his mind.

A Rookie who is an all Star in year one and superstar by his second year… An all Star guard, a max slot he can try to convince his buddy Kyrie or any other bigtime free agent to take and play with him…

If Lakers had gotten #3 it would have been a done deal AD to LA, but now with only #4 to offer and Ingram health concern LA might not have enough to attract NO…

And I don’t see him accepting a trade to the Knicks who could attract NO with #3
