BKKnicksfanParticipantWelcome back Cyclo.
For my money, it’s Kenneth Faried because I feel we know his role. He’s gonna be a rebounder/shot blocker/defensive guy. I don’t think Faried is Dennis Rodman, but he’s pretty darn close to it.

cycloParticipantThanks.
Just wondering, because I haven’t seen Faried play an entire game and he and Thompson are about the same size 6’8", same position PF, same range limitations and possess similar skill sets and levels of athleticism.
With so many frontcourt bigs playing lazy in the NBA these days, I’m thinking a guy like Mr. Faried who’s strong, quick and gives maximum effort at all times on the boards and on D will make an impact at the next level.

OhCanada-ParticipantEveryone is going to give me sh!t for this because Im well known for overhyping canadian players, but the fact is we are sleeping on tristan Thompson. Even I have been sleeping on Tristan. The guy is averaging basically the same statline Ed Davis averaged, the same statline Derrick Favors averaged, and his team is a Top 10 candidate for winning it all. He is a long and super agressive shotblocking PF. The league does not have very many of those players, and I expect teams to want a guy like this. Golden State took Udoh last year hoping he could be a shotblocking big (guessed wrong picking him over Davis). There will be someone who suprises us and takes Thompson early for his shotblocking, length, athletisism, and energy.
No doubt in my mind Thompson goes at least 14.

Snubs15ParticipantRight now id give the edge to Faried. The better prospect is thompson easy but as of right now i think Faried is the better player. Both players are great defensively but Tristan has more offensive upside imo. Thompson is one of the best defensive big men in the ncaa and i dont think hes getting recognized for it. Texas is the #1 ranked defensive team and hes their best defensive player.

OhCanada-ParticipantI definitely agree Faried is a better player right now. If he goes 15-20 he could go to a team contending for the playoffs and immediatly play a nice role similar to Blairs rookie season.

B-ball fanParticipantHe is a ridiculously good rebounder and athlete. I think that his activity level will make up for any skill level advantage Thompson has on him.

The lake show2Interesting…Why exactly do people have Favors as having a higher ceiling than Tristian?..He’s not more skilled than Tristian at the same stage. Not as explosive. Favors is longer but doesn’t have the same motor that Tristian has.
I haven’t watched Faried enough to say who is better

If Texas had Favors this season, they’d be a better team.

I seen Favors and Thompson play, I think Favors would have thrived with a solid point guard like Cory Joseph and he wouldn’t have had to share the paint with a big like Lawal at Texas.

The lake show2Corey isn’t a set up type pg though he’s more of a scoring guard. Favors needed a drive and dish type point guard because he had major trouble creating shots for his self.

EuroBallParticipantAge is the big thing with Tristan, if this guy was born later in the year of 1991 he would highly be consider to be a top five pick. Here is my point; he recently turned 20, he’s a freshman and he’s from Canada, if his birthday fell later in the year like september to december he would highly be consider a top pick. Tristan is not 6’8, he’s 6’10 with shoe on or a little taller so that makes him a legit Power Forward. The only thing that’s holding him back is a jump. Defense is there, he just gotta devolop a jumper and that’s the easiest thing to improve as a basketball player.

delfamParticipant^ he also needs a right hand, I cringe everytime he touches the ball in the post on the left block then spins towards the basket and shoots it lefty. It seems no big men these days can use both hands.
