nateoak10ParticipantThis site has him at 1, Draftexpress at 5 and ESPN at 11

ilike.panochasParticipantI think his workouts will be insane and if he can atleast measure in at 6’8 with shoes, he could be the 2nd player taken right after Perry Jones, but no later than #5. Kyrie could also challenge him at the #2 spot if Kyrie shows his foot is completely healed by the time combine comes around and regain his quickness and speed.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI dont think he’ll go number 1,maybe top 5…I say more likely top 10,after GMs & Scouts see his weakeness up close..Williams have a hard time creating his own shot..He’s s tweener, doesnt have perimeter skills to play small forward, have trouble guarding bigger players in the post which sometimes leads to him committing silly fouls..He reminds me of Tyrus Thomas..Another great athletic player who is still having trouble finding out his role in the league….Remember a few months before the 2006 draft.. Some folks had Tyrus Thomas rated as the number 1 prospect..

ilike.panochasParticipantHe is far from Tyrus Thomas, Thomas couldn’t even average more than 12PPG coming out of college, Williams has a stronger body (240lbs compare to paper thin Thomas 210lbs coming out of college), and Williams is dominating on offense while Thomas’ only impact is on defense and rebounding while in college.

bdoody42ParticipantESPN always seems about a month behind in draft related topics. They catch up right before the draft, but anytime before there I would read this site or draftexpress.

HitsterParticipantA lot will depend on who is drafting where and what their respective needs are also whether Derrick Williams is really regarded as an SF or a PF or is your classic tweener. If he can play SF in the NBA then teams like Cleveland,Nets,Kings,Raptors may look at him if they miss out on Perry Jones and Kyrie Irving.
As always his workouts will have a big effect on where he goes and whether he is considered a safer choice for being more NBA ready than an NCAA rookie or a European prospect who may have more long term upside. At the moment I’d say he justifies a top 5 rating in most mocks but we are still 5 months away from the draft.

sammybuckeye13ParticipantHe’s such an incredibly smart and perceptive scorer which you notice immediately when you watch him play, and he’s developed and amazing jump shot. That shows me he still also has a high ceiling. If his ball handling improves I don’t see any reason why he shouldn’t be a top 5 lock. Williams = more versatile David West.

BKKnicksfanParticipantIt’s interesting because he’s doing very well recently and has 2 years of tape so people can see his growth and such. Depending on who’s in the top 5, he could go top 5.

llperezi dont understand the he doesnt create his own shot comment at all. Put him iso against any pf in america and they are toast. He creates his own shot all the time and most teams throw a lot of zone defenses centered around him getting swarmed to take him out of the game. His ball handling and one on one skills are top notch IF he plays pf.
As far as where he goes, i say probably in the 3-6 range.

LAKE SHOWFrom what i found out scouts are high on him but not as high as they are on The kid out of San Diego. As far where a couple of scouts have him
Jones/Kyrie is the concensous
Barnes is behind them because they feel he will eventually step up
Sullinger and he seems to be moving up now that he is showing his jumper more
T.Jones
The Sandiego St kid
And then Williams
Suprisingly alot of scouts still aren’t very high on Jimmer because they think he is a undersized shooting guard and that he will go somewhere at the end of the first round or early second. Personally i think he should/will go higher than that

Ghost01ParticipantESPN is much more spot on than this website. I.e. Alec Burks. Enough said. I expect Williams top 10, probably 7-10.

llperezI dont think Kahi Leonard will go top 10. He is a great athlete but his permiter game is still raw from what i’ve seen. He doesnt shoot the three well, his ball handling is sub par and he averages more turnovers then assists. He reminds me of ruben patterson. Wing players who do almost all their damage in the paint is not very popular in the NBA.

Ghost01ParticipantExactly, this site is okay but stuff like Burks and Leonard going in the lottery are so off.
