Carter has looked terrific today against Virginia.  Big body, runs the floor.  What has surprised me most is his pick and roll and his toughness around the rim.  Bagley might have the higher ceiling but Wendell Carter can play center in the NBA tomorrow…I wish he was backing up Embiid right now.

I like Carter and think he would go in the 10-15 range. Reminds me of Al Horford because he knows his role and doesn’t try to do too much. Has good touch around the rim, can step out and hit jumper, good defender and rebounder.

Honestly think I’d rather have Carter than Jaren Jackson at this point. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a shakeup in the next mock.

He’s not the best or flashiest, but he is one of the most mature and complete bigs in this draft.  If a team is looking for immediate frontcourt help, they should look at Carter.  He does a lot of things well. He can post and turn over either shoulder, finishes with both hands, he’s a good passer, has excellent hands, can step out and hit the jumper, face up blow by…defensively he’s fundamentally sound with the strength to battle down low, with underrated leaping ability and shot-blocking instincts.  The only thing I worry about with him is his ability to defend on the perimeter.  IMO, he should be right there in the mix in the 6-10 range.  It was a joke that guys like Brandon McCoy or Robert Williams were ever mocked higher than him.

Like I said when he was in high school, he’s not Horford(Horford iq is second to none) but a David West clone with some Nene, smart, good feel for a big, know how to produce…

If Carter can have good parts of the West, Horford and Nene games then he will have an excellent NBA career. I had wondered if he might be a similar player to recent Duke and Philly guy Okafor but he looks more defensively sound and should be a more rounded NBA career.

I’d say he’ll be in the top 5 bigs taken in this year’s draft and I’d put his range at 6 to 15 at moment. A lot of teams will work out a number of bigs in that range and if he does well he’ll be quickly snapped up.

Cleveland, Philly if the picks come across to them will take a look, Chicago, Charlotte, Knicks would also take a good look IMO.

I remember being impressed with his hustle in one of the H.S. all-star games I watched but I hought the same thing about Okafor. Now I see he is a much smarter player and knows how to gain position when boxing out, setting picks and clearing space. I am starting to see the Al Horford comp. He finds himself in the right spot were he might not block your shot but he will get the defensive rebound and that position will prevent a lot of guys from driving the lane.

I’m actually in the camp that he’s a better prospect than Bagley. The thing I like most is that he’s active on the floor, and people say he’s not flashy but I think he has plenty untapped potential. He’s basically the perfect center for the modern NBA.

I have a feeling Ainge wants him but I hope he falls to the Bulls, great fit with Lauri
