To me he reminds me a lot of Tony Allen . Both are about the same height (6’4 6’5). Both are mainly slashers(Oladipo looks like he may develop a fairly reliable jumper). And the both play fantastic perimeter defence.

Oladipo has a good 3pt so I call him the poorman’s Deon Waiters, because Waiter is the poormans D-Wade.

Except Waiters was taken so high because of his ability to shoot it off the dribble and create buckets.
Oladipo will be taken so high because of his ability to play defense, play off the ball and get garbage buckets via fast break, backdoor cuts and offensive rebounds.

Tony Allen with a higher offensive ceiling. But honestly this has to be the 20th thread about Oladipo comparisons, and at least the 10th that compares him to Tony Allen.

I think Oladipo is a cross between Alvin Robertson, Michael Cooper, Bruce Bowen, Sidney Moncrieff, Nate McMillan, and
Vincent Askew. Did I leave anyone out?

Avery Bradley can’t play point. He’s not doing it right now for the Celtics either. He guards them and he sometimes brings the ball up but his ballhandling remains poor and he doesn’t create much for his teammates. Pierce is the one running the Celtics with Rondo out.

That Tony guy from Blue Chips. Would make a great fourth option just as long as your top two guys are
Shaq and Penny and your third guy is a big white kid from Indiana with range.

Hey now, that white kid has a name. It’s Ricky Rowe. And I’m not so sure about Tony. He is flunking T.V. after all

I sorta see him as Shannon Brown with better 3 point range.

      No.
      .
No offense, but if I said this I would get like 25 negs.

How about he is going to be a good 3rd or 4th starter on a contending team with some ability to shoot and play excellent defense and slash and use his athleticism.

He’s definitely going to be the poor man’s D-Wade. The only question is, how poor?

When I see him, the guy I think of is Joe Dumars. I see that as his ceiling.

His floor would be a useful bench player who defends and can be counted on to not completely stagnate the offense. Gary Neal perhaps, somewhere in that range anyway.

He has little offensive game beyond fast breaks finishes and picking up the leftovers. He’s scored 20 or more 5 times in his 3 year college career!!

Oladipo has solid role player written all over him. Not Wade.

    jibbers,

Cody Zeller reminds me of Chris Dudley. They look similar. Dudley was a solid center, nothing flashy. I think that will describe Cody Zeller too. But, Dudley was a great defender and terrible free throw shooter. Zeller might be less of a grit guy with better offensive skills.

Vic is a great athlete and has a similar build to D. Wade, but the comparisons need to stop. Even the “poor man’s” D. Wade comparison needs to stop. He’s not dynamic enough offensively. I think he needs another year of college.

Obviously, he has a different style of play than Tony Allen, but I like that comparison a lot better from a “what they do” standpoint. Just hopefully, he can develop into a better offensive player than Allen. I think Vic has upside… Just think he’s overrated right now.

What about a (healthy) Michael Dickerson comparison for Oladipo?

I think Oladipo will be a much better finisher at the rim than Tony Allen. Allen doesn’t make contested lay-ins the way Oladipo does. He is similar in that he plays great defense, moves well without the ball, and can get a bit loose with his handle in a similar fashion, although I do think Oladipo has a better handle than Allen. And Oladipo should be a better shooter.

I can agree with that. Vic does finish much better around the rim than Allen… Even before Allen tore his ACL.

I can also agree that Vic will be a better shooter.

It’s not a spot on comparison, but I like this one a whole lot better than D. Wade.
