They young players are coming, especially Hayward, Favors and Kanter.  They have all raised their level of play.  Do you think they can make 8th seed in West? if so, will they be a tough out in the 1st round?

The great thing about playoffs and the NBA is that there is always an upset or two.  When a team gets on a roll, they can beat anyone.   Just see the Grizz v Spurs series last season…..

That wasn’t really an upset since a lot of us thought Grizzlies would beat the Spurs.

Yeah I see them in the playoffs, I’d h8 to play them. They’re young and they play hard. They have the size to match up with anyone and perhaps overwhelm smaller teams (kanter, favors, jefferson). I really like Millsap because he creates a mismatch everynight and can go to work in clutch moments. CJ miles and Hayward bring good energy on the wings, too bad Howard went down because they were deep there.

Crazy thing is they are young. Coaching is going down there in Utah, for real Corbin has done well.

I think anytime you have a good rotation of big men you are almost guaranteed (granted you need a good coach too) some wins. Outside of them they have a young SF/SG in Hayward who is actually pretty decent, a washed up PG in Devin Harris (although he wasn’t too bad last night and the play drawn up for the win was great). I like where this team is headed but they definitely do need a new backup/starting PG since they’re young and have a future at every other position.

I think we will make the playoffs. Favors is a double double machine when he gets some minutes, and looks ready to take over the pf spot at anytime. Hayward has been ballin lately, and Burkes has finally gotten his chance and hasnt disapointed. And Kanter gives them size and rebounding. The future is looking very bright in Salt Lake.

i’m a huge fan of Hayward but he has small balls syndrome, he doesnt shoot enough in my opinion, he could avg 15-18ppg on high FG%

Hayward’s problem is he literally always takes what the defense gives him and plays team ball almost to a fault. He’s got to be aggressive consistently.

But I like the Jazz a lot.

Jazz has competition because you have Minny, Suns, Portland that are also fighting to get in.  Houston has the spot now and they are not even fully healthy.  Maybe if Denver goes on a slump but I thought it now that they have Chandler and also are dealing with health issues.

Jazz have two draft picks this year, what are they going to do with Al Jefferson, Paul Milsap, and Devin Harris?

If the Jazz make the playoffs, their pick goes to Minn.  If the Warriors pick ends up being a top-7 pick, they don’t have to give it to the Jazz.  Right now the Jazz are playing well at 1/2 game out of the playoffs and the Warrior are horrible and sitting at 9th-worst in the NBA.  You do the math.

As for the thread, I think the Jazz will make the playoffs and they have a very bright future.  However, I don’t think you can win many playoff series w/o a semi-reliable 3-point game in today’s NBA.  The Jazz have almost no ability to make teams pay from the outside when they clog the middle.  While I could see the Jazz upsetting a few teams, I think they are unlikely to win a playoff series this season.  If they gain a 3-game + add a legitimate pg, they could be a serious contender as early as next season.
