burningfloodParticipantIs it just me, or was the officiating at the end of the game awful? Refs like to swallow their whistles a whole lost when it’s the last minute, even when there are obvious calls that need to be made.

FritzParticipantUNC always gets these calls. Im so mad right now. The refs did make bad calls against UNC also but the last 8 minutes was just terrible. Not even including the charge at the end or Howells case for a foul even though I think that should of been a no call, or even Barnes not getting touched when he was fouled by Wood with a few minutes left, but this is where I think they were really out of line. The last play of the game, after an NC State timeout, there was .6 seconds left on the clock. NC State was about to inbound before UNC called a timeout. And only then, did the refs decide hey maybe we should put more time back on the clock and add it to 1.2 sec. They didnt even show the replay of when the UNC player stole the ball and I have heard from some that his foot was out of bounds also. Inconsistent reffing the whole game.
But I think NC State proved today they are worthy of an NCAA bid. Sad time to be a State fan but hopefully they can pull off an upset in the tourny.

akhan786ParticipantKendall Marshall charged on that last play. They called a charge on a similar play with CJ Leslie earlier and that was the foul that sent him out of the game.
The ACC refs have been horrible all year. Something has to be done.

D7H7NParticipantRefs made bad calls on both sides, but I can’t believe they gave State double the time on that last play.

bjcart53ParticipantIt was just you because it was horrible on both sides. State tried to give unc the game and unc tried to give state the game. Duke gets the most calls of anybody. Im going to say this tho when they get purvis and lewis and those other guys come back State will be here to stay.

rickybobbyParticipantCj leslie didnt get a charge for his 5th foul he fouled barnes who was going up for a layup although there was a couple of state guys around and they didnt show a replay so i dont know. But even though the officiating was terrible in the end NC State gave the win away with the turnovers. The charge call i can say was questionable but as in Murray State last win there was a similar play and the ref didnt call anything. Which is pretty typical for end of game situation like these.
Also Howell wasnt fouled at the end it was pretty clear a jump ball situation and Howell never had possesion because Bullock and Barnes had tipped the ball away from him at first and Bullock tipped it away again at the end. But all in the second half officiating wasn’t great and everyone knows refs tend to swallow the whistle at the end of games to let the players decided who wins and loses.
NC State should be in the tourney they beat Boston College easily, got a hard fought win over Virginia, and played Carolina really tough. And if they dont get in i would be really surprised.

UNCbasketballbumParticipantWhy was Justin Watts running the point for UNC? He also missed that wide open lay-up from that beautiful pass from Marshall. Dude is trash.

D7H7NParticipantBecause Stilman White is too short to guard Lorenzo Brown. With Bullock, Hairston, and Watts, you can guard Lorenzo effectively even if he manages to switch defenders.

nbafan7898ParticipantPoorly officiated game on both sides. There were 2 phantom calls on Marshall that sent him to the bench and McAdoo got called for a lot of ticky tacky stuff.
The charge on Leslie was absoulutely horrendous. Just a poorly officiated game.

river09ParticipantIf anything, over his last couple games CJ Leslie really showed me he could be a guy to carry his team on his back and perhaps pull an upset or two on the way..

omphalosParticipantLeslie was playing like a lottery pick today, but he definitely strikes me as more of a slashing SF than a PF down the stretch, he CAN post up, but only on the mismatch. This is the first time I’ve seen him play a full game and it was ridiculous how athletic he was, I was rewatching most of his buckets to get a better look out of sheer amazement. He destroyed McAdoo too, if they both stayed another year I’d take Leslie of McAdoo hands down.
Did anyone else notice that Barnes was really attacking off the dribble today and didn’t take a single two-dribble pull-up shot (that I can remember)? Was also interesting that he was guarding the NC State PG for most of the game and doing a good job of it. That move Barnes made at the end of the first half to get by his man for a foul was great, when he wants to, he can actually drive quite well, it’s just a matter of UNCs offense that prevents him IMO.
