Lawrence113ParticipantTrey Burke is clearly the best point guard of this draft class. He is currently projected as a mid 1st rounder but teams in the lottery that pass him up are going to be shaking their heads.

i’m jus so offendedParticipantI wouldn’t go as far to say clearly. I still at this point would be inclined to take Marcus Smart before him, actually I for sure would and maybe even MCW…But…Trey Burke has turned me into a believer as a pro prospect man. He just does everything at a high level. Execution, passing, shooting, driving, leadership. It’s all there. Michigan would be mediocre without him. I’ve seen him take apart Illinois twice and he excels at two things PG’s need in the league. Isolation skills and screen actions. Now, people want to make a big deal about his athleticism/quickness, which he has enough of, and the Wolverines struggles but it almost seems like everyone expects top teams to have no hiccups nowadays or they are totally flawed. When was the last undefeated team, the 80’s?
If I’m Orlando, Phoenix, Detroit, or Sacramento/Seattle, I’m looking at him real hard in the lottery. Very easily top 10. I think the kid will be very successful in the NBA.

Sewok15ParticipantHe is probably the best pure PG in the draft. A lot of people like the potential of MCW but I prefer the production of Burke. Smart is the best PG in the draft even if he is considered more of a combo guard. Smart will be able to effect the game on defense while the other two will not. I really like Burke and would take him in the lottery but he isn’t ever going to be a top 10 PG in the NBA.

Olynyk 4 NPOYTrey Burke is the best cbb player in the nation.
.
If I had to start a team, with whatever player I want, to play in NCAA, I would pick Trey Burke.0 - Posted on: Mon, 02/25/2013 - 3:07pm #750685
ItsRainingNegsParticipantI haven’t gotten to watch much of Burke and I haven seen Paul enough to scout him but what are the similarities and differences between the two? Quickness? Passing ability?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 02/25/2013 - 3:17pm #750688
Olynyk 4 NPOYDifference: defense. (Burke is no slouch though)
.
Similarities: Scoring, passing (halfcourt or break), ball handling, athletic ability, shiftiness, composure, height, IQ, ‘go-to’ scoring, killer instinct, winner.0- Posted on: Mon, 02/25/2013 - 3:25pm #750692
alingeParticipantWhy do we always have to compare players to superstars, it is very unlikely Trey Burke ever becomes CP3, by the time his career has done CP3 will probably be considered a top 5 point guard of all time. Why not compare Burke to Ty Lawson or Jrue Holiday that is more logical

Olynyk 4 NPOYBecause Trey Burke plays more like CP3 than Ty Lawson or Holiday.
.
.Why do we always have to assume that when one is comparing a player you’re talking about how good they will be, as opposed to play style.

alingeParticipantTrey Burke IMO plays more like Jrue Holiday than CP3. Also I never said I was comparing how good Trey Burke will be, I don’t think he will ever be as good as Holiday or Lawson. For me his perfect NBA comparision is T.J Ford, in terms of college production and what he will be in the NBA

Olynyk 4 NPOYToo bad i never saw TJ Ford to tell you how wrong you are.
Just looking at his 3pt fg% in college, I can tell you right now the comparison is way off. homey, Trey Burke is one of the best shooters in college, including off the dribble.0- Posted on: Mon, 02/25/2013 - 4:09pm #750717
alingeParticipantOther than 3pt percentage their way of play and leadership abilities are very similar. Ford knew when to take over college games and how to use his lack of height to an advantage, while always being both a pass-first point guard but also a scoring threat. which are traits that Burke also has. 3pt percentage doesn’t indicate if a player plays in certain way. Although I would say the Jameer Nelson comparision is very good as well.

Sewok15ParticipantTJ Ford was a blur that really didn’t have a jumpshot…Burke has average quickness and a great jumper. I don’t see many similarities other than being good leaders on good teams.

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantBurke is more like Jameer Nelson who was a damn good college player also

Sewok15ParticipantI like the Nelson comparison…he isn’t as strong as Nelson but I think he is slightly better playmaker.
0- Posted on: Mon, 02/25/2013 - 4:12pm #750719
Olynyk 4 NPOYJameer Nelson: Isaiah Canaan
Ty Lawson: Pierre Jackson
CP3: Trey Burke
John Wall: Lorenzo Brown
Eric Bledsoe: Marcus Smart
Ricky Rubio: Myck Kabongo
Rusell Westbrook (non-athletic): Erick Green
OJ Mayo/ Lou Williams: CJ McCollum
Greiviz Vazquez: Michael Carter-Williams
.
….I predict about 25 negs….0- Posted on: Mon, 02/25/2013 - 4:18pm #750723
Sewok15ParticipantI like the top 2 and bottom one…everything in between is questionable to me.
