Did anybody see Lance Stephansen playing so well so soon, and what about Luke Harongody? Any other rookies that I am missing?

He was pretty tentative during the first half of today’s game, but he has showed excellent court vision. McRoberts looks like a summer league star to me. I don’t know if his game will translate to actual NBA games.

I agree but I just thought Evan Turner and Derrick Favors would be the ones we are all talking in about, but they are both struggling a bit, if that’s what you want to call it. That’s understandable being that they are rookies thrying to go from the”go-to guy” to justanother player at the moment.

i dont know but jeremy evans had a sick dunk in traffic, u can see why maybe he was drafted, his athleticism and they may see him as a andrei kirilenko type defender(hopefully) but i doubt it. who knows though, the jazz are a good organization and a player like that may work hard for a team that drafted him.

Eric Maynor has looked outstanding in the Summer League. He plays like a seasoned vet, and looks like a potentially elite backup PG who could start for some teams.

Also, rookie Damion James looks very good in Summer League. Gerald Wallace-like in the fact that he rebounds well from the wing and is energetic and a great athlete. Did I call it or did I call it? lol

Jrue Holiday is in year 2 but he has looked like a man playing against boys. I think he is really gona take a big step foward this year, maybe have a 15-7-5 type season. & He plays D, he gives me hope for my sixers.

I was trying not to mess up on as many bold predictions like last year. I said Jrue Holiday would be a disappointment in the NBA and I said Stephen Curry would be a backup combo guard. Made sure I watched as much basketball as possible and made smarter predictions this time. Now I can call what I was right on!

Iggy you are doing well man you remind me of myself younger. Last year you may have slipped up but hey just get better at it.

Also big men in this summer league are hard to call because Speights may not be used the same. Also Orton showed more than what people think and in two year people will say how lucky Orlando was. He has a wide body and he moves up and down the floor well and looks like he will be pretty good with picks and screens and going to the basket. The scoring and rebounding will come once he stop thinking too much and play with a better point guard. Same thing I saw with Favors. Stats dont mean as much with the summer league. I did not watch every game but the ones I saw. I can tell Favors has a lot of offensive weapons but his motor is bad. Orton looks lost of offense but looks okay on D. Everything that Orton is doing wrong can be corrected easily. Next Summer league Orton will look like what Mullens is doing right now.

To be honest Iggy I can kind of get how you got Holiday wrong because he did not look too good because of lack of playing time at UCLA and lack of confidence in summer league and early on in the NBA but Stephon Curry had can’t miss written all over him. Maybe one day I can pick your brain about that and others

I think Orton’s ceiling is Erick Dampier. Defensive specialist

Yeah now I see Holiday just didn’t play his true position, and he needed the ball to be more effective.

I got too carried away with Curry’s size and lack of truly good athleticism. I should’ve known he’d be real good after how he switched from SG to PG that seamlessly and still efficiently led the nation in scoring.

I think he can be better because he moves quicker than Dampier and he a decent 15 foot jump shot. Dampier seems scared to put up points but I could see Orton taking more than he should. Orton is already decent with some nice blocks but his overall defense looked a lil off for the plays I saw him.

    Quick Question to anyone:

If Favors grows to 6’11 or 7 foot do you move him to Center and play Lopez at the power forward position?

Favors is 6’10 and change and is 18. He could possibly be 7 foot but likely 6’11” and he has a longer reach than Lopez and is more athletic.

It is hard to tell but. I was high on his scoring but was kinda wondering myself what he would play and hoped he would grow and then I did more research and saw him make plays and passing that only so of the best play makers make and like you said he pretty much changed positions in one year. I was like being good in the NBA is about talent and growth. Curry had that and could shoot the lights out. I could tell that Curry had that “IT”. Some people just get it and it doesn’t matter what weakness they have

That being said, Curry did not look as slow as people suggested. He looked like he played at a decent speed but nothing super quick and most super quick guys need to be quick cause they can’t shoot.

Billups is not that fast but can still drive because he can shoot, same with Cassell back in the day.

You have more time to do stuff if you can shoot. Also his lack of strength and athleticism was overblown too but still in the NBA guys start working out so that does not matter for long and I knew he could gain some decent size because his dad was skinny but not that skinny.

I wonder how good Seth will be. What team will get lucky enough to take a guy you know will be good.

I like to think Lance is motivated to prove to the NBA that he SHOULD have been a first round pick… The fact that he is playing impressively well is a testament that he is motivated and driven to prove something… Being a headcase has always been an issue and his arrogance is somewhat felt but I tell you, even if Indiana didn’t get John Wall, Stephenson should be one of the reasons why Indiana is going to improve over time…

Though I am not so high on him yet since this is just a Summer League wherein it don’t really translate to NBA competitions, I think a lot of us can see what this kid can do on the floor now… I think he’s going to contribute to a Pacers team that badly needs help in the back court…

Honestly Wall has to play real good right now because Stephenson is making a case for rookie of the year. I can not make fun of Larry Bird any more. The did wonders in this draft and apologize for saying bad thing about Bird but it is funny he found success when he changed his drafting strategy. Stephenson could wind up being just as good as Wall considering in college he did not play point guard where he should have so we don’t know if he would have outplayed Wall if he would have played his natural spot.

If Stephenson would have played point guard in college and shown what he is showing in summer league, would he have been a top 10 pick or even a top 5 pick?
