SkalAndJamalParticipantSo if the Wolves were able to land Ben, what do you think would need to happen to maximize that team’s potential.
I first would say they need a new coaching change: I’m always thinking Thibs, but I think Larry Krystowiak from Utah would be a good fit too.
2nd: Rubio should be traded. Ben should have a PG that can shoot the ball and play defense.

SkalAndJamalParticipantNo idea why just posted by itself anyways.
Scenario HC: Tom Thibodeau
C| Karl-Anthony Towns
F| Ben Simmons
F| Andrew Wiggins
G| Tony Allen
G| Patrick Beverley
Bench: Dieng, Bjelica, Muhammad, Lavine, Jones.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantThe spacing that team has is very worrying. No one in that starting lineup is someone I’d be sweating about taking an open 3. Wiggins who I love still hasn’t nailed down a consistent jumper and if I can pack down the paint and stop the easy buckets Wiggins, Towns and Ben would be getting their and let them try to win with Beverley shooting 3’s all game, I’m happy. Ben needs a lineup with a lot of shooters around him to be most effective I think- and whilst Towns is certainly a good floor spacer for his position, no one else in that lineup, or even off the bench is a plus shooter at this point, outside of Beverley but again, with all the inside weapons that team has I’d be happy with letting them trying to beat me with Pat B shooting all night.

SkalAndJamalParticipantRespectively disagree, especially with a coach like Thibs. 2010-11 Bulls didnt have much spacing in their starting lineup, in fact this wolves line-up might have more, that team had 62 wins. Defensively… this team would be scary, and then offensively I wouldnt mind having Towns, Wiggins, and Simmons making plays for each other and the rest of the team. LaVine can shoot it, and if they need even more spacing put Bjelica in. However Thibs coordinating the defense with Allen, Wiggins, and Beverly then have Towns being the 2nd line of defense… that would be stellar.

SkalAndJamalParticipantWiggins, Allen, and Beverley with Thibs coaching would be the best team to defend the Warriors perimeter offensive attack.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantHow long does Tony have left in the tank? He’s 34 and his already nonexistant offensive game has fallen off a cliff this year. I don’t see him being much of a contributor next year which would be Ben’s first year and certainly not in the years following.

SkalAndJamalParticipantTrue point about Allen, this career for him could end soon. Maybe make a move for Avery Bradley? That would be perfect for the 2.

SkalAndJamalParticipantYou right actually. Delly is extremely undervalued and attainable. If they can get Simmons, him at point would be great! Him and Avery Bradley would be perfect compliments for Wiggins, Simmons, and Towns. Especially since if Delly needs a blow you can just have Bradley run the "point" (the idea is though to have Ben doing a lot of the playmaking)
Here’s an upgrade. C| Towns F| Simmons F| Wiggins G| Bradley G| Delly

Memphis MadnessParticipantTony Allen is done.
He gripes and pouts when he doesn’t start.
He has little value now, especially on a team like the Grizzlies who don’t shoot all that well.
He has value on a really, really good team as a 9th or 10th man. A guy who can help defend some of the better wings. He can’t really shoot (even point blank layups) but he (sometimes) gives you energy and can rebound.
He might actually have some value as a backup power forward in really, really, really small ball IF the opposing power forward isn’t that big, quick, athletic, or skilled. I think TA can handle some of those 6’8 and 6’9 backup power forwards. Then on offense, TA might still be quick enough to go around them or make quick cuts to the rim. TA could then help out on the boards and get you some steals.
If you are Cleveland, and want to go small, I can see you going with TT or Love at center, LeBron at the 4, then TA at the 3. TA could guard either forward, giving LeBron some rest and allowing LBJ to roam the passing lanes. TA could then make some cuts on offense and be used as a guy who just crashes the boards.
If you had Kevin Love out at the 3 point line, and LeBron in the high post, then I would put TA in the low post.
The Cavs aren’t actually deep on the wings, and could at least use another body at the 2 and 3 spots.
TA could also be the Cavs’ enforcer.

BallBeenLifeParticipantIf….. Just if the Wolves somehow by the grace of the basketball Gods land yet another one *DJ Khaled voice* (#1 overall pick) they would be a DYNASTY!
Could you imagine that line up even if they didn’t trade anyone??
PG: Rubio, Jones
SG: LaVine, Martin (even though he’s pretty much out the door)
SF: Wiggins, Shabazz, Rudez
PF: Simmons, KG, Bjelica, Payne
C: Towns, Gorgi, Pek
I know Simmons is a Point Forward and could be listed at the PG in this depth chart. But what I’m trying to get at is that this team would be a mismatch nightmare for the league!
Who knows! Maybe Flip will give us some help on lottery night and pull off the miracle.
