This guy has come a long way since the first time I saw him play as a Sr in HS.  Saw him at the 2003 Glaxo holiday tourney here in Raleigh.  Back then Hibbert got pushed around by guys who were 6’6 and looked to be nothing more than 7’+ traffic cone.  After watching that tournament the only thing I was sure of afterwards was that Rondo and Josh Smith of Oak Hill at the time were the most amazing guard/forward combo I had ever seen in transition at the HS level.  I digress , props to Roy Hibbert for putting in the work because he has come a long way.  Dean Smith always said that big guys like Hibbert didn’t hit their peak/ceiling until they were 24-25 years old and it seems that way with Roy Hibbert.

Hibbert is not a stiff, he’s a very skilled 7 footer, you can say he’s un-athletic, but far from a stiff. Best Pacer center since Rik Smits.

Big Roy has really come on over the last two years and his rebounding stats have improved dramatically as they should for a guy his size. I always remember what Larry Bird said about him when he was drafted, he will be 7ft 2ins at the start of the game and still be 7ft 2ins at the end of the game or words to that effect. For a guy his size Roy is very skillful and has good ball handling skills.

It will be interesting to see what sort of offer the Pacers make him this summer as I have a feeling that some team with cap space may make Roy a very big offer.

Georgetown can certainly develop big men. What’s most impressive about him is his touch but more importantly his passing and handling skills. Also if you consider where he started as a freshman at Georgetown his foot speed and stamina has improved greatly and seems to get better every year. He will never be a great athlete but it definitely doesn’t hinder his performance. Hibbert is a deserved allstar,

Who wins in a foot race: Al Jefferson or Roy Hibbert?

He’s a very quality player.  The Heat are vulnerable once someone catches in the post, but are wildly impressive at denying the post.  Hibbert’s work there and on defense has been stellar.

7’2” with a 7’4” wingspan paired with a great work ethic is hard to argue with.  He’s put in the work, he looks slimmer now, than he did in college.

who cares if he’s slow-footed, when you have a 7’2” center average 13, 9, and 2 and shoot 50% from the field, he can be as slow as he wants
