ROY

Come on now. Don't say I didn't warn you.. I've been trying to explain.. Told everybody that he is a seasoned veteran, a champion and MVP at age 19. Tried to explain that Euroleague is second only to the NBA and much more competitive than college.. But people would argue that he is not close to Ayton or Bagley, and told me to have my eye in the future.. Well almost mid-season now, is anybody here that thinks Ayton will turn out to be a better pro than Luka? And who do you guys see winning ROY?

I agree

I come from Europe and saw Luka being a superstar... He reminds so much of Bodiroga.. He won everything possible there both at the club and national level... He has a super high IQ and you can't teach that... I just wish Dirk would be 7 years younger...

Luke is clear favorite for

Luke is clear favorite for ROY now, but I wouldn't say he has it in the bag yet, we still have over half the season left and this has been a strong rookie class.

The real question

The real question should be: Is he going to be an all star this year? He is a fan favorite and lots of votes from Europe will arrive... If he was in the East I think he would make it... Not sure in the West

During the first 15 games of

During the first 15 games of the season,Ayton was leading the pack and Luka's play was up & down. Now as the season has progressed Luka's experience playing for years overseas gives him a slight edge over the current crop of talented rookies. He's tied for 1st in points during clutch moments with a fg of 64%. Trae Young has more double doubles than half the NBA's point guards. As a Grizzlies I'm excited by the play of JJJ . The kid will be an all star sooner than expected. But right now Luka is Ballin.

Euroleague Champion, MVP,

Euroleague Champion, MVP, Eurobasket gold model at 18-19 years old sounds good and all but yeah, lets just see how it translates to the NBA because he doesnt have a 40 inch vert. LOL.

Luka's great!

He's the top rook for sure but Ayton has shown that he's a comparable talent. In a time when the league has moved away from bigs he is putting up some really great numbers for a rook. I'm not saying that he's performed better than Luka but to slight Ayton would be a mistake.

Luka Doncic Stat Line

Mins 32.5

PPG 19.5

FG% 43.6

3PT% 37.1

REB 6.6

AST 5.0

STL 1.1

BLK 0.3

Deandre Ayton Stat Line

Mins 31.0

PPG 16.3

FG% 59.9

3PT% 0.0

REB 10.8

AST 2.2

STL 0.7

BLK 1.0

Again, the impact that Luka has is great but if you compare rosters the Mavs team isn't that bad. Just wanted to throw that out there, while I do agree that hes the top Rook and will most likely hold off the rest of the class.

I agree Ayton is an amazing

I agree Ayton is an amazing talent but the numbers arent everything. He tends to shy away from tough battles, he floats on the defensive end and is not a facor there whatsoever and offensively he struggles creating his own offense. Obviously hes still a rookie and hes on one of the worst teams in the league but he just has some bad tendancies that need to be worked on. Especially on the defensive end, hes one of the worst defensive starting C's right now.

Ayton

As we speak Ayton just scored 24 in the second quarter on the Nugs. 25pts/9rebs/2stl in the first half. Manhandling Jocic. I think the soft label is done. The past 10 games Ayton has upped his energy by a lot.

With that said as of now Luka get my vote for now. I'm a huge Ayton fan, but Luka. If Ayton continues to bring the energy, it will be a good race for ROY.

Great group of rookies! Ayton, Young, Doncic, JJJ, Bridges and Bridges, Bagley,Carter, Shai. Lots to be excited about! If I left your guy out not intentional.

Frustrating

to watch the Suns piss the momentum away by going away from Ayton. Denver shot an incredible rate from 3, but the Suns tried to shoot quick shots and got down big again. Sometimes I can't believe this team, 2 points is worth more than a three point miss. Live and die by the three! Entertaining game though!

I like that coach you guys

I like that coach you guys have I think he would do well if everyone listened to him and he has a bit more skill at his disposal but why even have Melton on the floor in crunchtime when he's 2-8/2-9 FG and Murray has dropped 40+. For defence? Might as well get another shooter out there and run Booker at PG. Warren hit a bunch of threes, then Bridges then Melton took his shot and I knew hed miss.

I dont know what feed you got watching that game but the real stars were the Suns play by play. The guy went off, saying not being able to call a foul when reveiwing instant replay determining who the ball went off is comparible to not being able to charge him with theft if he was caught on camera stealing his co-hosts wallet. LOL. That whole organization needs new staff.

Eddie Johnson is pretty funny.

As far as play by play they are pretty ok compared to say the Celtics who saw two player get hurt and said it's ok as long as the Celtic player was ok. Pretty scuzzy.

The Suns definitely need a point guard! I definitely think put shooters out there around Booker and Ayton.

ROY...

Comes down to solely who puts up better stats that is all Winning doesn't matter unless the race is super tight and efficiency can't be used...

Personally I see Luka winning solely as he handles the ball the at a reasonably high volume and has been given the green light to shoot and he can make it ar reasonable rate....

Ayton and Trae will be closely on his heels though...Ayton doesn't have a legit P.G to feed him so this makes the scoring part a little harder for him,Trae also has green light to shoot but to ineffcient so stats will be lower on the scoring end making hard to put him over Luka..

All the international users

All the international users on here knew Luka Doncic was going to be a special player. It was only a few Americans users from the Michael Porter Jr. Fan Club on here who said he was too slow, unathletic, not good competition etc.

How is Porter fairing these days ?

As a Suns fan it's good to

As a Suns fan it's good to see Ayton doing well but I agree that Luka is clear favourite and his stats line will likely get better as the season goes on unless he tires a bit across his first 82 game season. But he has likely played more high level competitive matches than a lot of other Rookies in his career and Rick Carlisle would be smart enough to manage his workload across the season so if a play off push was needed in March then Luka would be as fresh as possible.

Luka should probably be an

Luka should probably be an All Star too. Even though the West is super deep.

Honestly, I would have him in the 10-15 range for MVP. He's as valuable as anyone in the league other than the flat-out Superstars. So, other than guys like LeBron, Giannis, Westbrook, Harden, and Durant.

I think Luka has no doubt

I think Luka has no doubt been the top rookie this season and will win ROY. But to think already he will be a better pro over the course of his career than everyone else in his class is pretty bold. There are some very talented players in the draft and a few that I think have much higher ceilings than Luka. Luka's advantage is that I think his floor is much higher than everyone else in his class. I don't think he'll have a season where he has worse statistics or worse percentages until his early-to-mid-thirties. And that if he simply averages what he is now the rest of his career while making some good runs and performances in the playoffs over the years he'll be a perennial all-star and HOF. I see him shooting more efficient in years to come and improving his ball security. I think he'll be a very good scorer, a top distributor at the forward position and a solid rebounder as well. But there is some very comparable talent in this draft. And I think Luka is having a better rookie season because he has years of experience and success in the second best league in the world so he is far more prepared than the rest of his class. But I think guys like Ayton, JJJ, and Bagley all have comparable talent, and even guys like Young, Bamba, and SGA have ceilings that could all compete with Luka over their career. But again, I think all these guys have a lower floor than Luka so the odds are in his favor as far his career. I just wouldn't write off these other guys yet.
