SwatLakeCityParticipantSo just thought I’d let you guys know that Earl Watson and Francisco Elson have just been signed by the Utah Jazz.
http://www.nba.com/jazz/features/locked_on_jazz.html (Elson is not mentioned here, but most of you already know about him signing with the Jazz. Watson’s signing is a little more unknown)Elson will be replacing Koufos, and Watson will help Price and ultimately Dwill develop more. Personally, I think the signing of Earl Watson is much bigger, and I really like this move.
Watson is a pure PG who plays with heart. He’s been around the league for quite awhile (I believe this is his 9th season) so he is another seasoned veteran. He is so much better than Ronnie Price. For 2 years I have been watching Price backup Williams, and I thought “this just doesn’t fit”. Price can play defense somewhat well, he can jump quite high, he’s an okay 3pt shooter, but where is the savvy play of Derek Fisher that the Jazz used to have. Wouldn’t it be much better to have a true PG back up dwill? Then in 2009 the Jazz drafted Eric Maynor. I thought to myself, finally the Jazz have a good backup for Dwill, and then midseason they trade him for cap relief. “Great now I have to watch Price once again.” Price isn’t bad, but there was something missing from the bench of the Jazz. And now with the signing of Earl Watson, it is filled (hopefully) Now they have another seasoned veteran, a true PG, and a savvy defensive player to back up Dwill. So much better than Ronnie Price. Finally…… now just keep him. Please do not trade him midseason. Watson could really help the Jazz, and oh man I love this signing, its perfect!!!

TooNice4TVParticipantDefinitely an upgrade at both positions.
I feel that Watson was not a great starter in the league, but more of a “ramon sessions type of player”, who’ll thrive off the bench more, but can be a decent starting PG. Elson brings more veteran leadership.
Then again, Sloan will maximize each of those two players

sammybuckeye13ParticipantWatson is definitely a great economical addition, and while I agree with just about everything you said about him, I disagree about Ronnie Price. He might not be an ideal backup PG, but I really like and admire him. He’s one of those guys who’s tiny, nobody really gave him a shot after he put up great numbers in college, but he plays as hard as anyone on the floor at all times and was actually pretty effective. A good ‘lightning’ to contrast with DWill’s ‘thunder.’ He cannot hit a 3 to save his life but there were stretches in the playoffs, especially in games 1 and 2 against the Lakers, where they made huge comebacks early in the 4th quarter when DWill sat and Ronnie would come in and give them that boost.
Also, what happens to Sundiata Gaines now?

butidonthavemoneyNOOOOO
Yada "Bloody" Gaines was BOMB!
This is seriously a big downer. I am so upset with my team right now.
I would take Yada "Bloody" Gaines and Jeremy Evans over Earl Watson and Francisco Elson any day…

SwatLakeCityParticipantTrue, sammybuckeye. Price is not bad like I said. And he has come along way. I do respect him for the kind of player he is. But this is coming from someone who watched the Jazz when they had Derek Fisher. Fisher was the perfect compliment to Dwill. When they lost him, they lost everything. True they still made the playoffs, but if they had Fisher all along they probably would have made it to the Finals by now. Earl Watson adds so much to this team. He could be Utah’s version of Derek Fisher.
Gaines will probably go back to the D-league. Sorry, we liked your last second shot against the Cavs (that was awesome and he will always be remembered for that) but you didn’t provide too much else. Hey, he had a brief stint in the NBA, but he wasn’t better than Price, and I’m sorry but I just don’t think his skills belong on the Jazz anymore. He plays with heart and I respect him for that, but he just isn’t what the Jazz need now. But he might work for some other team. But, seriously I think he will go back to the D-league.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantWatson’s defense and low turnover rate is whut has kept him in the league so long..
He’s like a poor man’s Derek Fisher….
this might be his last year in the league..he’s been on the decline the last few years…Earl Watson’s beautiful wife actress Jennifer Nicole Freeman
played Damon Wayan’s daughter Clair on the show My Wife & Kids..0 - Posted on: Mon, 09/20/2010 - 10:33pm #404659
butidonthavemoneyA Google search for "Jennifer Nicole Freeman" makes me reconsider this Earl Watson signing…
Between Kirilenko’s wife, Okur’s wife, D-Will’s wife, Hayward’s mother, Hayward’s sister, and now Watson’s wife, there will be a nice collection of hotties in the stands.
Now if only we could get our hands on Tony Parker and Marko Jaric…

llperezsolid signing and im surprised he lasted as long as he did. Obviously not a guy you want starting, but a very good backup who often ends up pushing starters and earning more minutes then most expect for each team he goes to. I dont think he is slowing down much either like rudeboy suggested. Last year he averaged 8ppg 5apg 3reb 1stl all of which are a little higher then his career numbers.

IndianaBasketballParticipantWatson was VERY solid with the Pacers last season.
This is one of those great undercover signings.
