jjonzParticipantIf you a middling playoff team for the @ least 2 years should you continue to keep sneaking into the playoffs, at the expense of developing rookies/2nd year prospects. i.e the Rockets have @ least 4 guys that have upside questions Thabeet/TWill/CBud/Patterson. They are also trying to make the playoffs, but there is not a Star on the roster, so sneaking into the Playoffs does not benefit The organization at all. I would develop the guy’s over trying to be an 8th seed

goneParticipantI think your’re wrong making the playoffs is a confidence booster not too mention mpney maker. Lets say the rockets make the playoffs this year then next they say okay we need to add blah blah or get better at blah blah in order to take the next step.

The lake show2And you looking at it as a fan and not owner/player. You make the playoffs you generate at least 4 more games of money for you’re team and the players get four more game check’s under there belt. Fans tend to forget this is still a business.

jjonzParticipantI considered that but in terms of The Big Picture. You have to go beyond the 8th seed and try to make a run. Example if the Bucks did’nt spend close to 90mill last summer after their playoff run they could have saved some of that $ for a decent PF (David West) & put him there with BJennings/Bogut. from an onwer/ GM perspective. You should give your fanbase something to get excited about besides 6-8th seed. I think You could take 2 years to draft and trade well and make a consistent run @ the playoffs & hope 1 of your players turn into a Star.

The lake show2You can Develop the players next year , they don’t have to develop this year they will be in the NBA for a decade at least so theres plenty of time. One season won’t destroy there career abd if they are good enough they will beat out a vet for more playing time

The lake show2Fans are excited as long as you make the playoffs even as a 8th seed. Have you seen how many people show up?..the games are packed and everyone is watching. another factor is as a Coach you are trying to keep you’re job. Developing players while losing doesn’t help you keep you’re job

festar35ParticipantThe Pacers are the perfect example of this. The way things are going at this point they might be one of the lucky few who are doing both. They are sitting as the 8th seed at the moment and developing players like Hansbrough, Geroge and Stephenson.
