TC_42ParticipantTracy McGrady, Tayshaun Prince, Richard Hamilton, Ben Wallace and Chris Wilcox did not show up to Friday morning’s shootaround, in what a team source called a “player protest.”
Wow. This is crazy. Will any of these guys play tonight? Detroit would be seriously shorthanded.
Kuester has got to be fired, right? I also can’t believe Detroit didn’t make any moves before the deadline either. They’re turning into a joke… which is sad, cuz I love the Pistons.

iceman21ParticipantThis is just want that Psitons need………They are not having a good season and I feel that the only bright spot on the team is Greg Monroe. I could see them getting a new coach or even trading these players over the summer but I feel like the player concerns are legit if it is these vetrans like prince and rip involved in these.

The lake show2I wouldnt say Tmac is lucky by the way he has been playing this year. If he was Eddie Curry it would be different but he has clearly earned his spot and is outplaying his contract

ilike.panochasParticipantAll of the players protesting (except for TMac, he signed for veterans minimum) are all over paid and not playing in the same level as their huge contracts. They have the nerves to protest.

Team sources have said it was protest, and the team spokesman made the excuses. The spokeman’s job is damage control, so… ?

flyboyParticipantThe worst put together roster currently in the NBA. Amazingly enough, they are a Rip trade/buyout away from actually having some cap flexibility. Why Rip wasn’t moved is absolutely headscratching. Prince wasn’t moved and I really doubt he re-signs. Stuckey has been up and down, but when they play him at the 2, where he should be playing, he’s been a productive player. Monroe has really stepped up his game, and he and Daye with Jerebko and White coming back from injuries, Stuckey potentially, would make the beginnings of a younger team with talent. Right now their veterans are all older, injury prone, declining, disinterested or simply not fits with the team. Villanueva especially has been a major disappointment after signing that huge 5 year contract two offseasons ago. That team has a long way to go to get back to relevance, and Kuester definitely has run his course in Detroit and will almost certainly be gone by the end of the season. Pistons have never recovered after trading Billups for AI.

HitsterParticipantIf there was a player mutinty lead by the senior guys on the roster then it is serious. Three of the Five were on the Championship winning team and with Rip having been treated so badly recently, I could see Big Ben and Prince feeling bad for him. Also Big Ben is a very proud man who nearly retired as he felt his game wasn’t up to it a couple of summers ago but came back for veteran’s minimum.
With the starting line up often changing and highly paid players on the bench then the locker room may well be unhappy. The 3 mentioned above obviously stick together, T-Mac is only on a one year deal and is playing reasonably well again so probably has nothing to lose and Chris Wilcox expires this year so may not be with the team after this season.
I can see the coach being on his way soon but would the owners make the big decision to remove Joe Dumars who is a Pistons legend and was part of their success both on and off court over the last 25 years. Maybe they give Joe a more Executive role in the franchise as he is a successful businessman away from basketball and they bring in a new GM to help oversee the roster.

flyboyParticipantIt’s mainly Joe’s fault the Pistons are in the position they are now in, so he probably should be replaced at this juncture.

Mr. 19134ParticipantNo this is for real team sources have tried to play damage control as much as possible but couldn’t even get an excuse for 2 players involved.
This is awesome because they play my Sixers tonight looking to get to an even .500. The Sixers are going to route the Pistons if none of these guys play it’ going to be fun.

Mr. 19134ParticipantJust told my cousin and he texted back the Sixers need to protest Iggy still being here…CTFU!…that’s how much we don’t like Iggy in this city anymore and can’t believe we just watched half the league go HAM at the deadline and the Sixers do nothing.

HitsterParticipantThe Sixers are now above .500 and after starting 3-13, Coach Collins has turned things around so unless they had very good trade options then there was no need to make moves as a likely play off space is there for the taking. Also come the off season the likes of Brand and Iggy will have less time to run on their contracts and Brand in particular if he puts in a full season will have proved he is sound after a few injury troubled years.
Coach Collins and his Front Office may make changes in due course but they could be more complimentary rather than wholesale.

r377ParticipantIts never been the same since billups was traded for iverson – its been all downhill.
I am not a massive t-mac fan but he has played quite well in the backcourt with stuckey lately

HitsterParticipantEveryone myself included thought that getting AI in was a great move. We were all wrong!
They cannot seem to decide if Stuckley is a PG or a SG, they sign players to big contracts and then they mainly come from the bench. Players who were key players are now past their prime.
It may have been said before but that Darko draft pick has really come back to hurt them.
T-Mac has had a decent year, he’ll never be a 20ppg plus player on a nightly basis but he has proven that he can stay sound and so might get offers from a contender or two come the summer.
Greg Monroe has been a revalation lately averaging over 16ppg and 10rpg over the last 5 games, so at least they have one good young big man going forward to rebuild around with the younger SF’s.
