BasketballJunkie224Participanti am sure many will disagree and personally I am a huge michael carter-williams fan HUGE and he is a great great player no denying that but I just feel as though hes a little bit overated. Not just because of his poor play yesterday against temple but just in general. I mean the announcers always say ‘hes the best PG in america, hes the best PG in the country’ i feel like he is one of the best but i mean there are A LOT of really good point gaurds. He is putting up crazy numbers obviously leading the ncaa in assists and up there in steals too but im starting to realize that when people say syracuse hasnt played against anybody really good yet that they do have a point, granted they played arkansas and carter willie basically had a tripple double but i mean after watching them lose to temple and seeing him struggle it just makes me wonder if he will continue to struggle when the games get tougher. And temple is a lot better than i thought, they could actually be a suprise team later in the season but i dont know im just not sold on him yet, i mean he was really struggling yesterday. But like i said im a huge fan and hopeing he does well

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantThis guy has a very poor offensive game, as talented a a passer he is people are forgetting to look at the fact he can’t finish strong and his jumpshot is shaky; his assists are impressive but are a bit inflated f you look at his supporting cast, much like Kendall Marshall(coming from a UNC fan). People look at his steals and think he is a lockdown defender but they don’t realize Syracuse zone defense allows guard to rack up alot of assists which is why guys like Dion Waiters looked so good on D. I think he is the #1 point guard in the draft but he still has his flaws

raybeasParticipantis BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD. Cupcakes at home don’t prepare you to play real basketball. He will even out at about 5-6 ast per game in Big East play. Which is not bad, but won’t wow NBA talent evaluators. His shooting percentage is horrible, considering his competition. His steal numbers are nice, but do not come from guarding anyone, just playing a spot in a zone. I see a late second round pick in a few years if he works real hard at the weak spots in his game.

ProudGrandpaParticipant“Late second round pick in a few years if he works real hard”?! That’s a little xcessive. With his combiation of size and flor vision, I think it would take a lot for nobody to take him in the first round

Tune SquadParticipantHis game reminds me of Shaun Livingston. He’s not an explosive PG like Penny was but more tame, long and an incomplete game offensively like Livingston. Certainy has payed pretty good in college, but I don’t think he is a star on the next level.

BasketballJunkie224Participanti actually feel like he could be a star in the nba, he definitely looks the part..its just he dosnt play to his full potential..i dont know i mean i guess theres still time to see what happens this year. it could be a good thing or it could take a turn for the worse. either way im sure he’s a 1st round lock no matter what. I just dont know if hes going to be a sure fire lottery pick like everyone expects..and another thing i mean the big east is really good but there are some cupcake teams at the bottom of the conference so he will have some big assist games i am sure but i mean its just so scary to picture him playing against cincy or even notre dame. his stock will go down in a heart bear..the dude grant on ND will lock him up i can just see it now. but like i said i hope he shuts me up and busts a$$

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantI’m not sure about him being a star; he can be a good player but the fact that he finishes poorly in traffic when touched against weak college competition, how do you think he will fare in the league? Like you said physical guards will eat him alive on offense, and right now in this generation point guards are much much bigger and faster

BasketballJunkie224Participantyea thats true, i guess im just hopeing he does well..i feel like hes been put on this pedestal by all of these college analysts and the only place he can really go is down. i guess time will tell

TheArtistPaysthePriceParticipantso I am missing his body of work so far. That being said, he did look shaky finishing at the rack like LBJ’s Hairline said. He needs some knee pads and some of that Nike Hexagon gear so he won’t be so scared of contact or falling. He is a pure point guard, not a big guard/forward masquerading as a point guard, so he has a chance to be good. The NBA is perfect for him right now if he can continue to grow and especially defend. A big pure point guard would be useful to so many teams with smaller shooting guards. We call to many small 2 guards combo guards, when they are horrible at the point and just aren’t distributors. If he can defend 2’s and allow a small 2 or combo guard like Monte Ellis or some of the lesser versions in Marcus Thornton’s, Boobie Gibson’s,etc. to guard opposing points but exclusively play shooting guard on offense, he will be a prize. Shuan Livingston turned into a really good defender before he got hurt and he wasn’t in college, but he had the tools and frame and MCW has that too.
From what I saw yesterday he has some work to do but I also see why he has all of this hype following him. He is a prospect and before we condemn or ordain him lets just let it play out some.0 - AuthorPosts
