Raef LaFrentzParticipantI’m watching the LA-Boston game right now and what Pau Gasol just did really exemplifies why I dislike him so very much. With about 2:45 left in the first half, Gasol and Perkins were battling for rebounding position and after a shot caromed off the rim the ball was tipped in for 2 points. Regardless of who’s hand it went off of, what Gasol did after the play really shows what he is all about. After the shot goes in Gasol attempted numerous times to purposely get tied up with Kendrick Perkins to force a double-technical foul, thus suspending Perkins for the next game. Is he serious? At first I figured, “okay, that’s just some chippiness after the play”, but then he tried TWO MORE TIMES to forcefully interact with Perkins. Luckily Perkins just threw up his arms and proceeded to run back on defense. Pau Gasol is a heck of a player and by far the most gifted big in the league today, but it’s things like this that get him labeled as a “flopper” and “soft.”
Anyway, I just thought that this was something that I should post about. Let me know what you guys think or if any of you saw this ineffective attempt to get Perkins suspended.

FDAPOAdam….
Is this what you do while your team is playing?

malikballerParticipantlol whats wrong with that..thats actually pretty smart lol..it doesnt matter how u win..as long as u win..and if he can seduce perkins into taking a stupid technical foul..that wud be smart..and wud be a big difference in the series..im jus saying..i know its gay what he’s doing..but its smart loll..i like it..

Mr. JewboyParticipanti also didnt like what he did
i think he shoulda been T’d up for it, especially because it was only a few minutes after Rondo’s technical
but all in all, he’s the only Laker that I like, and I hope he keeps playin quiet because that’s bostons only chance to win0

Raef LaFrentzParticipantFDAPO:
It’s halftime. I’d rather post about the game than watch Stuart Scott try to make funny jokes and try to act like he’s best friends with Magic Johnson. Hahamalikballer:
I never said it wasn’t smart. It’s brilliant, to be honest with you. But what it does show is that Gasol is scared. Is it me, or did the Lakers say that they “wanted the Celtics at their best”? I don’t know, but Gasol failed in his attempt(it was like a fly trying to pester an elephant, really).0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 3:23pm #331745
Tyreke JohnsonParticipantIt is a really smart move, you do not want Perkins playing, if you take him out of a whole game you automatically get the advantage over the Celtics. Perkins will crack he gets angry pretty easily.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 3:25pm #331747
ZeroParticipantHe did it cause he knows the Lakers are gonna lose, so he’s doing whatever he can to win.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 3:27pm #331748
Raef LaFrentzParticipantAgreed. Rondo layed one finger on Artest and he went FLYING! Haha. That is some high-quality acting.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 3:42pm #331754
Bison 49ParticipantSounds like a good move … why they talk about drawing fouls. If Gasol knows Perkins is a thug, why not tech him up and get two shots at the same time. No different than driving the lane for a bad layup when a defender is off balance.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 3:45pm #331756
IndianaBasketballParticipantPerkins, KG and Wallace repeatedly tried to tie Dwight Howard up last series and get him to either foul or get a technical. It’s smart basketball.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 3:46pm #331758
Raef LaFrentzParticipantAgain, I never said this was not a smart attempt by Gasol. It’s a very smart thing to try to do. But if you fail, you look like an idiot.

FDAPOhahahah wow He just did it again…
Chest bumped him. Gasol seems like a real prick
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 3:50pm #331760
Raef LaFrentzParticipantThat one seemed kind of incidental, but I’m glad Perkins is showing some restraint. His temper can get him into trouble from time to time.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 3:52pm #331761
IndianaBasketballParticipantThe Celtics consistently talk trash, get in players’ faces and try to intimidate… Perkins stood directly in Pau’s path. What was he supposed to do… Walk around him? If he did that, he’d definitely be soft.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 3:54pm #331762
Raef LaFrentzParticipantHe didn’t get in his path intentionally. Perkins was just standing there after the referee blew his whistle. Pau’s momentum carried him into Perkins’s chest. Nothing thuggish on either side.

IndianaBasketballParticipantTalk about an acting job… Look at Paul Pierce on that last foul.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 4:09pm #331767
Raef LaFrentzParticipantPierce got hammered, dude. Did you see how Kobe wrapped him up? C’mon. Yes, Paul likes to ham it up sometimes, but that was a good hard playoff foul by Mr. Bryant. Paul didn’t lay there for an extended amount of time, and Mr. Bryant let Paul know that his foul was not dirty at all. A good playoff foul in my book.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 4:11pm #331768
JNixonParticipantI’m convinced Paul Pierce is GAY GAY GAY…
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 4:12pm #331769
Mr.Knick 32ParticipantMaybe im looking to deep into the future I see Tony Allen getting pAID
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 4:12pm #331770
IndianaBasketballParticipantThat was a good foul, but Paul exaggerates every time he gets fouled. He lays there and rolls around like he’s in sooo much pain. He’s the best actor in the league.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 4:14pm #331771
Raef LaFrentzParticipantThat’s debatable. But yes, his acting prowess is evident on most of the plays that he gets fouled on.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 4:18pm #331774
IndianaBasketballParticipantPierce has a career in Hollywood after his playing days are over. He won a grammy with his admirable acting performance in the 2008 NBA Finals.
He’d be the perfect gun shot victim in a movie… The way he falls, grimaces and rolls over after getting hit is amazing.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 4:19pm #331776
JNixonParticipantI love Tony Allen’s game, but I wouldn’t get too excited and overpay him. Some team may do it though. He’s a defensive sparkplug and a decent scorer, but he’s not a starter and he isn’t polished on offense.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 4:20pm #331777
Raef LaFrentzParticipantGood call. He’s no Tom Cruise, but he’d be perfect for that gun-shot victim role you mentioned. Haha.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 4:21pm #331779
IndianaBasketballParticipantI think Tony Allen can get paid like Dahntay Jones did. Somewhere in that ball park.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 4:22pm #331781
Raef LaFrentzParticipantHim and Derek Fisher. I can see it now… Both of them getting flesh-wounds, writhing about on the floor in wonderful synchronized spasms.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 4:24pm #331782
IndianaBasketballParticipantAnother great acting job by yours truly… Paul Pierce.
Pierce flopped and got Kobe his 5th foul… Now was that smart or dumb?
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 4:25pm #331783
Raef LaFrentzParticipantI think you’re kind of hating a little too much on him, man. That was a clear hip-check. Kobe knew it, Paul knew it, and the ref called it. Why not fall down and get his old bones a rest?
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 4:27pm #331784
IndianaBasketballParticipantHip check? Paul dribbled into Kobe and then fell down… I didn’t see much of a foul there.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 4:29pm #331785
Raef LaFrentzParticipantKobe ran over to him and initiated the contact. With his arm crossed in an X shape on his chest, Kobe bodied up Mr.Pierce. It was a foul before the replay, and after I saw the replay it was still a foul. And besides, what are the odds that they call Kobe for his 6th foul? Slim to none.

LawDeeZeeParticipantphysicality of this series is getting to gasol
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 4:56pm #331799
Raef LaFrentzParticipantI think he’s handling it better than in ’08, but I also think that you’re right. 12 points from a player as skilled as him? That’s not going to cut it.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 5:16pm #331816
NYCrealdealParticipantthat college game is more physical than nba ball pretty sad wtf has happened
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 5:19pm #331819
IndianaBasketballParticipantGasol didn’t play great offensively, but he had 12 rebounds tonight… 7 of them being offensive. I think he’s handling the physicality fine. He’s averaging like 17 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks in this series. He’s had three double figure rebound, 20 point and free-throw attempt games.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 5:25pm #331823
Raef LaFrentzParticipantGasol is definitely playing some great ball in this series, but tonight was a sub-par performance for a player of his caliber. I think he is definitely playing just as physical as any of the Celtic’s bigs, so his toughness can’t be questioned anymore. Tonight I think the Celtics just played stellar defense, letting(although there was really nothing they could do about it) Kobe get his points and just keeping Gasol and others in check.
0- Posted on: Sun, 06/13/2010 - 5:59pm #331835
AllDayyyParticipantDerek Fisher has never taken a jumper in his life, where he doesnt act like a sniper shot him from the crowd. Guy probably flops when playing in the driveway with his kids.
I think Pau just got nervous when he saw Kobe’s RAPEFACE and knew he was gonna get yelled at in the locker room. Plus I would be scared of Kendrick Perkins too, ever since KG came to Boston and taught him some swagga, Perk has been kind of scary.
Oh yeah Paul definitely flopped big time on Kobe’s 5th foul, but you cant really blame him. I think JVG is right there has to be some negative reinforcement for flopping or its never going to stop. I blame Cristiano Ronaldo.
