IndianaBasketballParticipantThe Pacers just completed a sign and trade sending CJ Miles (3 yrs $25 million w/ player option on 3rd yr) to TOR for Cory Joseph. Check Woj for the source.
So currently the Pacers roster is:
PG: Collison; Joseph; Young; Sumner
SG: Oladipo; Stephenson
SF: Robinson III; Bogdanovic
PF: T Young; Sabonis; Leaf
C: Turner; Seraphin; Jefferson; Anigbogu
How many games can this team win?

Anton123ParticipantThey’ve gone an interesting route: not going full tank, but trying to mix developing young talent with decent veterans.
The team should run full speed all game with all their young quick athletic guys. The East is so week that this team might have a chance at making the playoffs.

cohenbc1ParticipantI’m gonna go out on a limb and say 40-44 wins. Overachieving team of the year in the East.

festar35ParticipantDepends how the mesh and how quickly it happens. To me Turner and Oladipo have All-Star level talent, but if we see it this year whilst the team works on its chemistry I’m not so sure.
I really like the roster & hope we see Joseph, Oladipo, Robinson, Sabonis & Turner share the court some as they could turn into a solid starting core with maybe another top 10 pick next year.

mcbaileyParticipantIt will be interesting to see just how valuable George was. I can’t speak for everyone, of course, but I heard enough grumbling to realize that there was a growing sentiment that Paul was a "fake leader," like he read about how to be the best player on a team in a book instead of being born with the trait. If his departure was actually a positive influence on the team’s chemistry, they could sneak into the playoffs.
At the very least, the team’s personnel finally trends towards a certain brand of basketball, instead of the weird collection of horrors that was last year’s roster.

MatosParticipantWould Oladipo ever have the ability to switch to play the point? Just curious if it would ever be an option or if they would ever give it a try.
I think Turner has a breakout year and the supporting cast does better than expected.

beargar10ParticipantI believe that they will do better than most think just because the east is so weak, also oladipo and turner and both very skilled young guys and I wouldn’t be surprised if One or both of them have a breakout year.
Record wise I’m thinking they’ll go about 500 like41-43 or something similar.

joe2324ParticipantI see them playing hard and being a .500 team which should get them in the playoffs. The problem with the pacers is I feel they will be stuck in medicocrity because no big stars want to play there and they are always a competitive organization; therefore, they’ll hardly ever be a lottery team.
I do miss those teams they had in the 90s with Reggie Miller and Rick Smits.
They’ll never be able to hold onto star players anymore in todays nba. Turner looks like a solid player with a great future, but I doubt he’ll stick around.

IndianaBasketballParticipantDue to the fact that Turner has family in Indiana and has roots here, I’m optimistic he’ll stay long term. However, the Pacers have to build a great team around him.
I like the fact the team will be competitive, but I feel like they need to be bad a season or two and build through the draft.

mamadouParticipantI think it’s a 33 wins team, think about it, there’s only 2 legit nba starters in that roster and a bunch of good to great back ups, 6, 7, 8th mens.
I don’t think they will be offensively efficient or good enough defensively, who goes to the line now ?, 3pts shooting ?
-1, -2 differential IMO.
Now the 8th spot in the east is wide open, maybe even the 7th, you could very well be an 8th seed with 37-38 wins, it’s doable for them.
Overachievers, playing team ball(lacking star power) happens, maybe they’ll have 5, 6, 7 players having their career years at the same time, just like the blazers 2 years ago or the heat last season.
Suns 48 wins 4 years ago, Celtics PO team 3 years ago.
I predicted the heat before last season and a COY for spoelstra(d’antoni was too obvious), they were 11-30…then 30-11.
Nuggets after melo(57 wins team), Blazers after LA(and batum, matthews, Lopez…4 starters) they were 15-24 in january, finished on a 29-14, West semi, Heat after Wade(and bosh, and deng, and Joe Johnson), Pacers after PG13(and teague, Ellis, Miles…58 pts in RS) ?
Who else for the 8th spot anyway, it’s a shame…
