d-ravParticipantBoth exhibition games, but impressive scalps nevertheless (especially with the NBA talent France and Brazil boast). Does this indicate that MAYBE the Aussies have a shot at a medal? Patty Mills, David Andersen and Aleks Maric headline their Bogut-less squad.

OrangeJuiceJonesParticipantPatty Mills is a beast in international competition. If he plays up to the best of his abilities, then Australia will give anyone in their group a run for their money.

bobbybParticipantFrance and Brazil are overrated… Lithuania , Spain and Greece are much better teams

nath09ParticipantI might be a little biased being from Australia, but IMO Patty Mills deserves a home in the NBA. I think he’s legit NBA quality.

ghettosermonParticipantI did mention Australia as a sleeper candidate in my WC run down and if they did have Bogut I’d say they would go deep but as great as a Big especially for FIBA rules that David Andersen is, it’s just not enough up front against elite teams at this point. With Patty and shooters like Newly and Ingles they will stay in every game but I just don’t see enough size and post skill. On the other end yup France has never been good in international competition. Even last year with Tony Parker playing and fighting for their qualifying lives they only managed 5th. They are such an undisciplined team. The reverse of most Euro teams. They have more size, athleticism, and NBA talent than any non US team but they don’t have shooters, play iso basketball, and don’t defend well. Brazil takes a huge hit by losing Nene and even with Barbosa their guard play is not great.

PureshooterParticipantI think people wrote off Australia too quickly when Bogut stepped down. I saw they added Baynes to the roster as well. I think his size and strength could really help Australia on the boards.
