Okay guys, we are down to the wire with Zion set to choose a college tomorrow. There has been a lot of talk recently that Clemson has passed up Kentucky as the frontrunner, but that is, to me, a dangerous decision from an NBA draft perspective. He will be ALL that other teams focus on. if he goes to a Kentucky or KU he can hide a little amonst the other top prospects, dominate the athletic testing at the NBA combine the next year and be on his way as a top 3 draft pick. What if he gets exposed at Clemson or South Carloina as a guy that can’t lead a team all by himself. Will he still be a top 3 guy? What do you all think?

All said, I think he seems like an independent thinker and a very, very bright kid. I see him taking the big risk and picking Clemson and trying to be the kid who puts them back on the map nationally. I think he just might do it, to.

Your predictions??? tick, tock, tick, tock, tick…

If he gets exposed it means he isnt ready for the pros.  He should go to Clemson to be the man, not hide his deficiencies.

He needs to go to a place were he can show all the other aspects of his game.  I am surprised Virginia isn’t listed as a dark horse school.  He could win there and play more team ball.

I think and hope he goes to Clemson. I dont think Kentucky will give him enough attention. If he goes to Duke Ill be very upset . UNC will be a dead end for his development. Id also be happy if he went to USC with Frank Martin but its unlikely.

Clemson is currently on top of the ACC standings and one of the best teams in the country as well.

I find it super interesting what these top prospects decide to do. I’m surprised more people don’t choose the Michael Beasley/Trae Young/Kevin Durant (Michael Porter may have been on this list as well) route and go to a non-powerhouse school, put up massive numbers (Win or lose) and declare for the draft.

I think like you said, people are afraid of getting exposed and being the guy, but there’s no doubt you grow and become a better player for it in my opinion. Not saying you don’t grow at a Kentucky or a Duke because they’ve both got a pretty good track record of preparing kids, but I think if you have the alpha mentality and want a real challenge for yourself, you go to the non-powerhouse program.

You get the chance to be the center of attention and that takes guts. I’d love to see Zion join that list and do work at Clemson. It’s for sure the more risky decision and in my option the tougher route (not saying going to Duke or Kentucky is easy), but I think the pay off is potentially bigger.

There would be no hiding his game, and he could put the nay sayers to rest about just being an athletic stud and nothing more. Great prep for the league.

My guess would be Clemson. I want him at UK but I’d be more fine with Clemson or USC than anywhere else. I doubt he’d want to team up with the #1 recruit at Duke and the already amazingly stacked class they have, and UNC like OhCanada said wouldn’t develop him like the other schools most likely will. USC wouldn’t be a bad choice, Frank Martin’s a really good coach and they would have a shot at being great

I’m a bit biased on this topic because my country’s best NCAA player, Maik-Kalev Kotsar, is currently playing in South Carolina, but my guess is USC. Frank Martin is very good coach and he’d have more support in USC than in Clemson. They recently signed Brian Bowen who could be a major contributor next year. Their frontcourt is already strong and will be a year older with Chris Silva having his senior year next season. They would be legitimately good with Zion and could replicate the success of last season.

I think he goes to UNC.

Number one, MJ went there. Zion is more than a blue chip recruit. He’s a BRAND. Air Zion has a nice ring to it.

Too, UNC is Alumni U. Mike, Vince, Worthy, Big Smooth, Rasheed, Jamison, a bunch of guys went there.

I also think that if Zion was going to go to Duke, Kentucky, or Kansas, he would have picked ’em by now.

Kentucky’s recruiting is going down a bit, Duke’s has probably peaked. Zion doesn’t have to do the whole one Final Four and done thing a la D Rose or AD (with AD and the gang winning the whole thing) but he COULD. Doesn’t have to be the next Rasheed or Worthy. But he could be. He just has to replace Luke Maye’s stats and have fun doing it.

i’m a duke fan adn would love him there.

i personally think he’ll be at south carolina. he would develop the best if he went to kentucky.

he’s a top 5 pick regardless unless he has garbage season.
