MorseWillParticipantHas anybody on here had a chance to watch a good amount of Anunoby play? He obviously was injured most of the season and actually had Indiana in the Top-5 in the country and a win over KU early in the season. I’ve seen highlights, but due to the injury I missed most of his games as a Draft prospect.
I like him as a fit with as a 3/4 small ball player for the Nuggets who need defensive help, but obviously highlights don’t tell the whole story on a player… Especially a prospect who’s defense is a big part of his game. What do y’all think of Anunoby at 13 to the Nuggets? What type of player do y’all see him turning into?

holefillers1ParticipantJerami Grant, Jonathon Simmons, Al-Farouq Aminu. Those are the first three names that pop into my head when I watch his highlights.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantHe’s raw offensively. Good athlete and decent catch and shoot player but he doesn’t really put the ball on the floor very well at this stage and his court awareness and passing instincts are not very good at this stage. I’ve heard some kawhi/draymond comparisons thrown out there but I think those are extremely optimistic and incredibly premature right now.
Defensively, he has all the tools to be an elite defender at the next level (strength, long arms, quick feet, size, etc.). However, those attributes don’t always translate to success at the next level. I think a lot of it will come down to competitiveness and desire for annunoby. Does he have that work ethic and killer instinct to be a top-notch defender or is he just someone willing to get by on physical gifts? We shall see.
Coming off season ending surgery, his draft stock seems to be all over the place right now. I’ve seen him projected as high as lottery to as low as mid second round. He is definitely an upside pick but could turn out to be a steal. A lot will depend on where he goes and what kind of tutelage he gets. Probably not a player who makes a big impact immediately.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantI see KJ McDaniels and Jonathon Simmons in his game.. which of those guys career trajectories he mimics will rely a lot on who drafts him and his work ethic. If he gets buried on a team that doesn’t need him like the Rockets did with McDaniels, he’s not doing much. If he goes to a favourable talent developer like the Spurs or the Mavs he could be a rotation player early as the second half of his rookie year if he has a lunchpail work ethic. Lot of untapped potential.

SubZeroParticipantI like him as a mid-late 1st rounder, agree that Denver could be a good fit playing some lockdown D and catching backdoor passes from Jokic. The Ringer has him like 4th though, which is crazy to me

DolanCareParticipantI also like him with Denver. I don’t like the Al Farouq Aminu comparisons. Don’t let his heigh fool you. Anunoby is a massive human being with incredible lower body strength. He’ll be able to defend the 5 as well as the perimeter, which is why he’ll make a great pairing with Jokic.
Unless his injury is still an issue, there is no wayyyy Anunoby slips to the second round.
