Cleveland trades: Kevin Love and Sasha Kaun

Portland trades: C.J. McCollum, Noah Vonleh, Al-Farouq Aminu, Mason Plumlee and the rights to swap first round draft picks in 2017.

Cleveland is better off by trading Kevin Love and adding some young players and bench pieces. Given their current cap situation, it’s difficult for the cavs to add quality bench players. They accomplish that in this trade.

Vonleh has some untapped potential and could blossom next to LeBron in Cleveland.

Matthew Dellavedova and J.R. Smith could potentially get huge pay raises in free agency. That’s two roster spots that could become available.

Would the Blazers be willing to break up their backcourt in order to obtain a player of Love’s caliber? I think so.

No way Portland does that. You are trading a soon to be young All Star and two really good centers in Vonleh and Plumlee for a scrub in Love. I wouldn’t do that even if it was McCollum for Love straight up. The Blazers should stick with what they’ve got because it’s a young roster and they are all extremely talented. Don’t jump start the process, or else you will end up losing for a looong time.

But would you pull the trigger on that trade? Is love that good?

Love is not a scrub whether you would do this trade or not.

If you’re a contender, you want Love. If you’re a developing team, you want McCollum. Cleveland is doing awesome in the playoffs, I’d wanna see how playoffs play out before suggesting they make trades. Cleveland doesn’t have enough basketball to go around as is with Kyrie, LeBron, and Smirh. McCollum absolutely needs the ball to do what he does well.

Kevin Love showed how good he can be as a first option a couple seasons ago. In Cleveland, he’s the third, fourth and sometimes fifth option while he’s on the floor. He’s just not a good fit.

If given a bigger role on the offensive end, Love would thrive as he did when he was in Minnesota. He won’t get that chance in Cleveland, but in Portland next to Lillard as the second option, Love would put up big numbers once again.

The fact that McCollum had a breakout year doesn’t guarantee that he’ll be an all star in the future. It is yet to be seen if he can keep that level of play for years to come.

Yes maybe that guy went overboard calling love a scrub, but giving up all those really good prices for love is horrendously over rating love yo.

Also as a #1 option love never made it to the playoffs, he padded those stats without contributing to winning. Sure he is a good player but not worth all that, you also lost credibility.

They should trade him just for getting his ankles broke by Kris Humphries

     Love was equal to Wiggins.

Now the trade has him equal to CJ and Plumlee, as the other parts don’t matter.  Portland says a quick yes, they have Crabbe to step in at shooting guard and are more than happy to have Love who grew up around there.

Cavs don’t do any of that, they could get a lot more for Love, and they don’t need all that depth that replicates a lot of what they already have.

While some fo that does make sense, Love to Portland and Cavs making changes, there needs to be another team involved that sends a star or two to Cleveland and wants CJ and young players and picks back.

Cavs offense looking lethal in this Hawks series. Up 3-0 making more 3 pointers than any team in a playoff series history only through 3 games. That small ball lineup with Love and Frye, Kyrie, Jr all killer shooters with Lebron main facilitator

I don’t know how you can call that lineup "small ball" as nobody is playing out of position. Free is 6’11 and has played both centre and power forward throughout his career. Love is  6’10 and is primarily a power forward as well as some centre. James is a big strong small forward. JR is an average size shooting guard as well as Irving for a point guard. Yeah, it’s a shooters lineup, but I don’t think it’s accurate to call them small. It definitely works though.

Why would Cleveland do that trade?

There’s nothing wrong with the Cavs. They will go to the NBA Finals. They are at worst, the 4th best team in the NBA. Why would you trade one of the guys who is a key to that?

Cavs are looking mighty good right now. Its like something clicked and now they all work for each other, instead of themselves.

Their offense is so dangerous with all those shooters. Im starting to think this could be their year.

I would delete this post if I could. After watching tonight’s highlights, I don’t want Kevin Love traded anymore. There is something special about this team. The chemistry is surreal, haven’t seen something like this in my short period watching the NBA.

For Golden State, they better be ready. If there is any team that can beat them, it’s Cleveland.

Trade wouldn’t happen for a number of reasons – the Blazers want to keep McCollum and Lillard as a backcourt combo. LBJ wanted K-Love on the team and likes playing with him before you consider all the reasons set out above.

Portland looks good. I think they should be able to attract a free agent or two there. They have a ton of cap room and two great players and a bunch of solid role players. They need a back up PG and then any front court player could fit in. Like Whiteside or a harrison barnes. Lillard is a clear number one option, McCollum is a solid number 2 option or a great number 3 option. Aminu can do the defending and rebound and make threes. With Crabbe off the bench and ed davis playing a solid 20 to 30 minutes a night.
