New Zealand is starting to get more young guys coming through.

With Tai Wynyard, Jack Salt, Tai Webster and some others that will be in the next few years, it will be good to see how they progress.

You guys might not have the big names like Simmons and Exum but I don’t think you’re too far behind us Aussies. In 5-10 years I think the Oceania area will be really competing against the bigger European sides and not being such cake walks for the US sides.

They did SUPER well actually. They won over the Philippines in their first game which isnt much of a big deal. But in their second game, they led France majority of the game but hit a cold spell in the last minutes. They also went neck-and-neck with Canada and lost by only 6 points.

What’s impresisve with these loses is that their tallest player is only like 6’8?? Some guy named Fotu. And they gave these 2 elite teams a hell of a fight. Almost won even. The Webster brother, Corey and Tai are absolute ballers. Corey is more of the scorer while Tai is the do-it-all guard. Their set plays are also a thing of beauty. Really impressed wth them.

Once they get Steven Adams to commit to play for them, and once Wynward pans out, they will be surefire participants and tough challengers in the Olympics. Especially now that Fiba Australia and Asia has merged and the top 3 teams get an olmpic berth. NZ can now lose to Australia but still be qualified for the olympics.

Rob Loe is 6’11 but doesn’t play that much. NZ was missing a few big men. Tai Webster plays well for the national team but has struggled for the Cornhuskers in College Basketball. New Zealand always has the strong big men but lack crafty wing players for the most part.

I didn’t realize that he is considered as a four star prospect. He hasn’t received much attention here.

What can be expected from Tai Wynyard going forward? Going into last season there was little to no info on him as far as scouting reports go. The most I could find is that he’s a strong bruiser type

He is a solid kid with really nice footwork, but where he will fall over is lack of elite size and athleticism.

I definitely feel he could make a NBA roster as a nice 4th or 5th big off the bench as to me his upside just isn’t there. If he could expand his range that’d help greatly, but the guy I compare him to is Sean May. Like May I think Wynard will have issues with weight if he isn’t fully focused on it. May was a very nice talent, but his work ethic undid him and if Wynard works he could ha e a long career.
