Had 41 points with 12 rebounds and 6 threes tonight wow. The Magic still lost to the Nets with that performance but its still eye opening. How much more of this will we see this season and more importantly what has the NBA become? This is starting to get wierd, almost everybody’s team has a Center whos main focus is to shoot 3’s. I kinda wish a throwback C like Shaq wojuld enter the league and resotre balance.

To make matters worse, Joel Embiid went 0-6 from 3. I honestly thought Philly would utilize him in the post.

Embiid played really poorly tonight. He was pressing so much to get baskets that he was looking off wide open teammates only to force a shot or drive that wasn’t there.

     also.

Whiteside put up the big point & rebound stats but Vucevic’s #’s were good & his + / – numbers were superior to Whiteside

Vucevic is really off to a Hott start this season

First off, Whiteside is one of the few throwback bigs left and second yeah I think Vucevic could continue this streak of his. I mean he has to because someone has to carry the Magic and he’s one of the few guys that could do it.

Sidenote: I’m glad to get him for my fantasy team hehe. Not a sexy pick but always solid in fantasy.

Whiteside made a three in his first game as well. Even hes shooting them.

Marc Gasol and Brook Lopez both developed a 3 point range last season and Vucevic looks as if he has done something similar. I’m all for players expanding their game but never at the expense of doing what you are good at or trying to be more than you can be.

I’m sure GSW would never want JaVale shooting 3 pointers however funny we all may find it.

Shaq was a dominant post player and in today’s era may well have been even more devestating but he would not have drifted out to the 3 point line as he knew he was dominant in the paint and stayed there.

Fair play to Vucevic for working on his game too.

Vuc has been a very odd case. When he was in college in USC if I remember, his main selling point was that he was that rare 5 who could knock down threes. As he stepped foot in the NBA, suddenley coaches told him to stop shooting threes and he became a Z-Bo type post banger.

This year’s Vuc is the final package it seems. A banger who has mastered the art of the post game through the years and a stretch big who finally utilizes that part of his game (3-point shooting) that weirdly disappeared in the pro leagues.
