Toronto16ParticipantSo David Stern has decided to ban players from wearing their head bands upside down. Seriously? First he bans turtlenecks, showing emotion and now things that fans can barely notice? He is getting too drunk with his power. So I wonder what will David Stern and his regime ban next? You can post yours as well, mine are:
1. Smiling after winning
2. Talking on the bench
3. Tatoos.
4. Being friends with a player on another team
5. Pre game rituals (dancing, chalk throw)

RUDEBOY_ParticipantLOL..I THINK THEY MIGHT CHANGE That Rule of complaining to the Referees..Becuz alot of people are saying its silly..Stern love experimenting with things..Remember a few years ago when the league introduced that new ball..After several complaints from big name players they went back to using the old ball…

llperezwhy exactly is stern an ashole? I dont agree with the upside down head bands, but whatever who cares? I mean do players making millions really care about wearing their headband upside down? Fact, most players say they have no problems with stern and respect him. Fact, the nba has grown considerably under stern and the money the players make along with the exposure they get around the world that only furthers their marketablitity and endorsments. Give me reasons why stern is such an as.hole?

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantI think Rondo is the only guy that wears it upside down.. I think Rafer does as well. But these are simply rituals, just like A.I. wearing a sleeve and LeBron throwing chalk, and Wade doing pull ups on the rim, they are rituals.. just let them be.

Toronto16ParticipantHow about when players started wearing tights under their shorts to keeps their leg warms when they were out of the game? What reason did David Stern have to banning that?

llperezdont know. But is it really that big a deal? Keep in mind that stern isnt the only one making these decisions. David Stern is the hired representative of the owners. He works for all 30 of them. THe stuff they want he tries to get done while at the same time working with the players union, the refs union, and having his own eye on how to improve the game and address any issues that he sees. I think he is doing a great job at it. I can give a rats ass about guys wearing head bands upside down or not.

llperezhow is the dress code way too strict? Head bands must be right side up is a big deal? And as for the collective bargaining agreement, lets wait until we see what happens. Of course stern is gonna seem like the bad guy because the owners want change and he represents them so he has to do their dirty work since they cant keep themsleves from spending money.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantYeah, it does seem realistic to ban pre-game rituals. He might pull some b.s. and say Wade can get hurt or break the rim, LeBron can get chalk on the fans and they won’t like it, dancing isn’t allowed, Something stupid like that

Toronto16ParticipantI think the dress code was a great idea. Why is a big 25 year old millionaire wearing throw back jerseys and hats and clothes 4 sizes too big for him? Now you see how decent these NBA players dress and not looking like damn fools.

llperezand the dress code aint even strict. Its just a collared shirt or something. Some guys wear suits and some wear polos or button ups or whatever. If the nba feels its good for the league image to look a little more professional, then so be it. I seriously doubt the players are losing sleep over it.

TyroberParticipantDavid Stern has really helped the NBA in many ways and he is a great commissioner. The dress code makes everyone look more professional and players wear their headbands upside down for whatever reason just looks silly and disrespectful.

HaleParticipantllperez You are sounding way too anal about this, let a guy wear his headband upside down. Does it affect anyone else? No. Maybe he’s done it since high school, or someone else wore something else and it became a tradition for them. Banning thing no one notices is stupid. Why can Stern even make that decison in the first place? He has gone too far with his dress code rules. I agree I doubt players are losing sleep over it, but it seems like he doing this just because he can, no basis for it at all.

M-DYMESParticipantIf u getting paid as much money as most these guys in the NBA are, why not adhere to a dress code? People in corporate america often have to wear a suit and tie to work. I feel the dress code is suppose to remind players that playing in the NBA is a priviledge and not a right. It is a job and it keeps a professional mentality in mind. Not to mention, these guys are looked up to by the youth and why not have these guys look as professional as possible. Maybe if they stop walkin round with their pants round their ankles maybe the rest of the world will do the same.
Pull ur pants up pricks, i dont wanna see asses. Same wit u girls, for every 1 fine ass that i do like seeing, there are about 10 fat chicks tryin to do the same. When ur ass is eatin ur pants, it time to pull em up.

SteroidParticipantHonestly, I don’t even think sagging or dressing "thugish" is even a trend anymore like how it used to be and not because of the dress code. I’m sure the majority of players would still dress "professionally" even if there weren’t some dress code.

IndianaBasketballParticipantI don’t see the point in banning wearing a headband upside down, but… It’s not THAT big of a deal.
Stern isn’t perfect and I don’t agree with quite a few things, but he’s done a great job running this league. He probably doesn’t get enough credit. The NBA is a great league and it’s only getting better. Complaining about the banning of an upside down headband or making millionaires wear a button up is pretty small in my opinion, but that’s just me. This game is taking a lot of players places they’d have never gone otherwise. It’s put them in a position to never have to worry about taking care of their families or worrying about anything for the most part. Complaining about a headband is a very small thing when you put it in perspective.
The NBA players still have a lot of say so in the ways they’re able to express themselves on and off of the court.

HaleParticipantI’m not hating on Stern that much. I just disagree with his dress code. I agree he has completely done a great job as a commissioner and everyone can complain about things. Only issues I have with him are his dress code, and him suspending Amare against the Spurs…I just thought the rule was dumb. But you can’t make exceptions so that’s just frustration.

llperezactually the fbi ran theire own independent investigation after the donaghy scandal and stern was more then accomodating. You have to understand, the nba is a business of billionaires and there is countless money gambled in sporting casinos around the world on nba games Stern has zero say over whether or not the government can run investigation into that stuff.
