Wahoo757ParticipantGood luck trying to get Amare agree to this deal and make him go to Toronto.

204ballerParticipantI know this trade will never happen, but it could be good for both teams. Since Amare can only play good if he is the primary scorer, this trade would work
To Raptors:
Amare
To New York:
Bargnani
Calderon
Raptors get a go to scorer in the post and will help Ed Davis develop and would be a good pairing with Jonas. New York would get a decent point guard that can hit the open 3 and a stretch 4 to play beside Chandler and Anthony. What do you think?

SmooveKRYPTParticipantGood luck trying to get Toronto to accept that.

BiggysmallsParticipantHow is Amare going to help Ed Davis develop? Where does this idea that "Amare is going to be a good mentor to the young guys" come from?
Amare has been a really good scorer, but alot of that had to do with playing with Steve Nash for a large part of his career, hes never been a good rebounder and has never been a dedicated defender…not exactly the type of guy I’d want mentoring my young players who arent as naturally gifted.

bloodshyParticipantTo me, this combo looked horrible from the beginning. Both players are high volume ball controllers that are average-to-bad on D. Both are highly effective on O when the O revolves around them, but neither can do much of anything w/o the ball. Both are huge on publicity, which was a big part of why they both went to NYC.
As a result, it was clear that these players would have a terrible time sharing. They both want the stats, they both want to control the rock and they both want the constant praise. Good luck making that work. Additionally, I’ve long thought both players have more star power than winning power. Together that problem is only amplified. Now the Knicks have two max contracts connected to two overrated players that they’ll never get rid of.
Grats on the win and Melo’s 41, but consistent success is impossible with NYC’s current model.

ChewyParticipantis too big to move. But if this were a NBA2K deal I would make it for both teams.

NashyMingParticipantI don’t think any GM with a head would take on Amare until his final year of his contract. Unless New York is taking back an even worse contract.

PulseGlazerParticipantIf I’m the Knicks, I’m calling every crap GM in the NBA daily on an Amare deal. Orlando, Brooklyn, so on…. Still, I can’t imagine anyone but the most desperate taking him on as depleted as he looks with an uninsured contract.
