     Question for everyone:

There is a supposed rumor of Pelicans looking to move up to the number 2 pick to take R.J Barret.

If yoy were Pelicans GM would you do this trade and if so what would you give up to make it happen?

Considering how determined the Grizzlies are to get Ja Morant, I’d hate to see how expensive it would be to get the number 2 pick. It’s probably not worth the cost unless David Griffin believes RJ Barrett is a future All-NBA/Hall of Fame player.

No chance, especially after the Grizz traded Conley.  Would probably be easier and more cot effective to move up one spot and trade with the Knicks since Barrett will be available at 3.  Can’t see either happening though.

I don’t really know much about who is better between Morant and RJ but it’s not like the Grizz are set at the wing positions either. Yes they just traded Conley but they still have Delon Wright who played fantastic down the stretch for them and had like 4 triple doubles in the last 5 games or something like that.

I know he is already 27 but he is at least talented, still promising and if the Grizz feel he can be their PG for this rebuild and they like both RJ and Ja it is far from set to me that they need to draft Morant just to replace Conley. Aside from JJJ, Bruno and Valanciunas (who is also already 27 btw) this roster is empty regarding high profile talent. Rabb might be mentioned here but he really isn’t going to blow people away I think.

Maybe the Grizz just select Morant and call it a day but there might be the possiblility that they aren’t blown away by Morant either and might be fine picking 4th to select who they like there. As I said before they need a lot of talent to reconstruct this roster going forward and cashing in on some more picks and maybe young players down the road might be more appealing to them.

i kind of agree.  if memphis can fleese a bunch of assets from NOP, i would definitely consider this.  memphis knows barrett would go to NOP; NY would have to choose between morant and garland.  you never know what will happen there; NY is definitely always a wild card on draft night.  but either way, wright and garland would be a nice backcourt in similar (lite version) mold to what ball and holiday would be.

i really like what memphis did with trade of conley.  crowder and korver, both have good resale value to teams that need veteran players with reasonable contracts.  wouldn’t be surprised if crowder is moved for another pick to a late 1st round team.

The simple pick would be take Ja and call it a day which I could see them doing.

However there is two options possible for the Grizzlies if pelicans want Barret…As I could see knicks taking Barret at 3 otherwise..

1)They could do an Atlanta draft like last year: Draft Luka and do a trade for Trae subjective of their player is there at 4 sort of deal with a future pick involved.

    or

2)Draft another player all together at 4 like a Darius Garland,Jarret Culver or Deandre Hunter and get your P.G in F.A…Then use the pick to either unload a bad contract or use for prospect.

Personally they could also take a risky flier and do option number 1 and have Ja fall to them at 4 but its really subjective to if the Knicks are high on Ja at 3 also.

As for taking Barret personally if I was the Pelicans I wouldn’t try trade up for him and would rather gain more assets for example 8 and 10 pick and you get to dump one of your average deals in the trade. However I wouldn’t be surprised if Pelicans somehow traded 4th pick for a solid/fringe Allstar vet like Wiggins and the 11th pick….

You only consider trading up if you are doing it for  one of  three reasons  1) To keep Zion happy/make his transition easier 2)You believe he can be an  a really good 6th man 3) You have a trade for Jrue holiday lined up so Barret can start.

     It’s just a rumour. They’ll stay at 4 or go down to 8 & 10.

Clamp city alright – Zo Jrue Zion then possibly Hunter at 4 or doing the deal for 8 and 10, looking at Bol with one of those.

I think this will stay a rumour. One of those "we tried" things to make Zion happy.
