I love me some off-season chatter, how do you think the Pelicans should approach their Summer & who do you think they should send Anthony Davis to?

Anthony Davis trade: New York Knicks

#3 Pick (RJ Barrett), Kevin Knox, DSJ & Future Mavs Picks (From Porzingis trade)

C.??? PF. Williamson SF. Knox SG. Barrett PG. DSJ

    Jrue Holiday trade targets:

From the trade with the Knicks the only thing they look like they will require is a starting C. So potential targets would be teams in need of a PG or SG & have a C to send back in return.

    Chicago: Wendall Carter Jr

    Indiana: Myles Turner

    Oklahoma: Steven Adams

    Orlando: Mo Bamba

Salary wise Turner & Adams match closely to Jrue’s salary of $26mil. I think Turner is the better option out of all of them given his defense & shooting ability, but Bamba has shown really nice potential here it’s a shame he got injured. Indiana also has another starting quality C to plug straight into the starting line-up & Orlando can re-sign Vuc as they have his bird rights, so I feel it would be smart to get Turner or Bamba, with Orlando though they may throw in Fournier or Mozgov’s contract to free cap, which could get New Orleans another pick  (16th) to take on that salary.

    C. Turner/Bamba

    PF. Williamson

    SF. Knox

    SG. Barrett

    PG. DSJ

If the Pels trade AD to NY, the main prize could be rim protector Mitchell Robinson who did part of his high school days in… New Orleans. It’s impossible that the Pels make a deal with the Knicks without including Mitch who is much more efficient on offense and a potential guardian of the paint, and less of a ball hog than Knox or DSJ

That team would be in the lottery the next five years. You need to put winning vets around Zion and not heap the pressure on. He still could turn around and do his ACL, then he’ll be out the league quicker than Anthony Bennett.

Jrue Holiday is an all NBA defender who is happy in New Orleans and he’s under 30. He’s gotta stay. I’d put the supermax in front of AD and dare him to say no. When he does, go get two really good players for him, including a vet who has performed in this league.

I’d honestly be much happier with something like DeRozan and Derrick White for AD rather than the Lakers or Knicks trash.

Someone should be looking at Julius Randle. He will be expendable if Zion does what he’s picked to do.

If we assume they get a decent return for Davis then that will give them future draft picks. They will have Zion as a rebuilding point. Lets say they get something for Holiday say a first rounder and an expiring deal.

I’d sign a veteran or two who have won a title and thus would be happy to come to NOP knowing they won’t compete but they can get a payday. But these guys would need to be high character, locker room leader type players who can help create a good atmosphere for Zion and the younger guys.

If you can shift Holiday then they will have cap space going forward to take on salary dumps for more assets. Go to the lottery a couple of more times then see where Zion is in say 2021 ands look to get a good level younger FA in to support him.

I’ve recently really been warming on the Anthony Davis to the Nets trade. LeVert, Jarrett Allen, a future pick or so and a Russell sign and trade really seems like the best package to me. A bunch of young guys who seem to still have potential but also proved they can make the playoffs on their own seems like a great haul. I They could keep Holiday with that group or they could try to flip him for another young wing and maybe another pick. I would definitely go for a TJ Warren or an Oubre sign and trade along with the 6th over all pick for Holiday. Then the Suns would have their veteran point guard and could finally that wing player overabundance they have. Then the Pels could use that 6th pick to grab someone like Coby White or Culver who could both probably split some time between both guard spots.

Would Russell do an S and T though that’s the question?

If the Nets were legit after AD would they have given up a 17th pick and potentially their first rounder next year plus Crabbe’s expiring 2020 deal?

If we were looking at what other teams might have offered for AD then Russell (S and T), Crabbe (expiring deal in 2020), 17th pick, one of LeVert or Allen and 27th or 31st pick would seem minimum sort of ballpark offer the Pels might accept.

The Pels would now be looking at Russell (S and T), two from LeVert, Allen and Prince plus 27th and/or 31st pick.

The first deal does look better to me but the 2nd one gets the Pels more cap space but it would all revolve around Russell agreeing to do and S and T.

Knicks trade: Pick 4. Kevin Knox, Mitchell Robinson, Mavs Pick

Pelicans Lineup: PG: Darius Garland SG: Jrue SF: Kevin Knox PF: Zion C: Robinson

Nets trade: D-Lo (Sign and Trade), LeVert, Jarrett Allen

Pels Lineup: PG: Russell SG: Holiday SF: LeVert PF: Zion C: Jarrett Allen

Clippers Trade: SGA, Harrell, Gallinari, 2021 First

Pelicans Lineup: PG: SGA SG: Jrue SF: Gallo PF: Zion C: Harrell

I like all three of these the most and honestly I think the Knicks or the Nets offer the best package for the Pelicans in the future. I’d rather see the Pels take Garland over RJ if they get the third pick.

I can’t see OKC or Houston sitting idly by without even making an offer. Morey and Presti are just like that. Presti is definitely up to something as he’s shopping 21 for cap space, and it doesn’t take up much space. It’s probably not AD, but I expect a move.

The Nets have pretty close to the best package for AD, so with the others out there I think we should be considering he gets move somewhere other than LA or NY.

Spurs never trade but this may be the season – they have DeRozan dangling and now 4 other guards next to him that need decent minutes (White, Murray, Mills and Forbes) and that doesn’t include Walker.
