Memphis MadnessParticipantAs you all know, the final 6 competitors in my MVP power poll are Harden, Giannis, Durant, Steph, DeRozan, and Kyrie Irving.
For finishing number 1 in my previous power polonium Giannis gets a bye into the MVP Final Four.
Pre-All Star Game rankings:
1. Harden 48.83
2. Giannis 27.24
3. DeRozan 26.8
4. Durant 24.36
Just outside: Curry at 20.16. Has a lot of work to do. Best ASG stats will get a player 10 extra points. ASG MVP will be worth. Play on the wining team get 1 point. Curry has work to do. Down but not out.
Thanks for playing: Kyrie finished with 6.32 points. He’s OUT!

CoachWyersParticipantI don’t think it is a race at all James Harden is the only guy in consideration for MVP right now in my book. He is on the team with the best record in NBA and leads the NBA in PER, Usage, Win Shares, Plus/Minus, and VORP.

EndlessknightParticipantI just can’t get behind Harden and his system inflated numbers. That system got Nash two undeserved MVP awards and made Lin look like a superstar. Harden is a great player but stats are greatly inflated by the scheme.
LBJ is still my MVP.

Memphis MadnessParticipantHarden is red hot. This poll took place over a week and a half. Highest score so far (or close to it) by anyone this year.
Looks like Harden will win — even by my metrics although if somebody like KD or Gianni’s ran the table then we might get an upset.
Maybe only an injury could slow Harden down — say he misses the last 15 or 20 games of the year and LeBron or somebody closes strongly.
My poll has showed that Harden was the first half MVP, came back strong after off nights/bad weeks, and is currently the top guy going into the All Star Game. Ok, he actually had the highest total in my PREVIOUS poll (54.33 points) but couldn’t move all the way up to 1 (Giannis won that week, clenching a final four bid, and followed that up by being in second place so far this week. He’s doing well, too). KD, Steph, and DeRozan rounded out the poll from 2 or 3 weeks ago and are still in the hunt.

Memphis MadnessParticipantDurant had the best ASG stats of any of my remaining MVP candidates. So 10 points for him plus 1 more for his team winning the game. He moves up to 2 in the rankings and gets to carry forward his extra point for the ASG win. Curry is officially out. DeRozan holds on at 4.
1. Harden 48.33
2. Durant 34.36
3. Giannis 27.24
4. DeRozan 26.8
