Looks like this MVP race is down to two players: James Harden and Greek Freak with Harden leading, but Giannis not too far behind.

A tier below that includes players like Paul George, Embiid, and probably Nikola Jokic.

Below that, you have guys like Steph Curry, Westbrook, Kemba, AD, and Durant getting some love although even those guys have probably been eliminated from legit MVP contention.

At the trade deadline I will take the top 10 guys (based off raw Yahoo Fantasy Basketball stat points) and weight it for fan points.

The MVP of the All Star Game will get 10 bonus points.  The ASG MVP will get an auto bid for MVP if he isn’t in the original 10.  Players on the winning team will also get 3 points.

These bonus points can be used at any time.

Each week after the All Star break, the last ranked player will be eliminated.  So whoever is ahead/left at the end of the season wins.  OR, when the race gets down to 2 players then the race extends to the end of the season.

Kinda like a sudden death MVP steel cage death match.

So this is gonna come down to not only raw production but also winning and staying healthy.

On Monday I might release the MVP Top 10 IF the cut off date where Sunday.

By the Break, I might also just make these guys All NBA 1st/2nd team.

Then the next five guys on the list who didn’t make the cut — that’s the All NBA 3rd team.  So yeah, I can do an All NBA 3rd team by the All Star Break.

I might do this with the ROY race too — although maybe just 5 guys — but 10 would be cool too!

Ok, I am gonna do a five man race.  The next five players who failed to make the cut make the All Rookie 2nd team.  Rising Stars MVP gets auto bid, 10 bonus points, and rookies on the winning team get 3 bonus points.

    Let’s see what happens!

Right now Harden is the front runner. He’s on an amazing roll. Harden is averaging 52 pts his last 5 games. During that streak he’s scored 261 pts all unassisted. But D’Antonio said Harden’s style of play can affect his teammates.
