Leonard WashingtonParticipantI haven’t been on here in a week, but last Thursday was a huge day for me. After a few bourbon and cokes I decided to make a 9 team $100 parlay. The parlay was mixed with NBA and College picks and it was one of those rare times that everything hit that day. 100 dollars won me 13K and I have now gotten it up to 17K after this weekend. Pretty wild I know. But to everyone that has given insight over the years on this site I felt like I needed to say thanks.
The Parlay was this:
Maryland (ML) vs Iowa (Maryland was at home and have more talent in my opinion)
Oregon St/Arizona St Over 140 (Both teams can fill it up)
Michigan St (ML) @ Northwestern (Denzel Valentine..nuff said)
Oregon +7 @ Arizona (the ducks have been hot lately)
Richmond +5@ George Washington (really close game throughout)
Washignton (ML +220) @ UCLA ( this game was my upset pick. I’ve been going with them all year, they have a ton of young talent, and Murray is a beast)
Pacers (ML) vs Hawks (I’m a Hawks fan, but they haven’t been playing well and the Pacers are good at home)
Grizzlies (ML) vs Bucks (Grizzlies were at home and are a better team)
Bulls (ML) @ Lakers (Lakers are pretty bad this year and the Bulls have talent and veterans. Easy pick)
For my non-gamblers (ML)= Money line (straight up win)
Once I started watching the Bulls game they were up by 18 at half and I was like LETTSSSS GOOOO!!!! 17K is an insane amount to win in a weekend off of 100.

losnopesosParticipantYour degenerate gambling has finally paid off, or, due to random chance, your degenerate gambling has gotten you closer to a net loss of zero?

Leonard WashingtonParticipantI tend to win more than I lose, rarity of hitting a parlay that big is the only thing I was pointing out.

brodiejayParticipantWell done dude. Happy for you! I feel like I should potentially start a career as a degenerate gambler. I’ve been playing the MYNBA2K16 app and there’s a section where you get some virtual currency for picking the winners of NBA games each day.
Over a four-day span, I picked 8 from 8, then 8 from 8 again, then 5 from 6, then 9 from 9. Several of those wins would have been against the odds…. so maybe I should start putting money on games?!?!?!
Anyway… enjoy the 17K man. Don’t spend it on anything I wouldn’t!!!

Robb_CParticipantBefore you guys go and start throwing your money away.. Ive made a part time living capping games, the one piece of advice I can give you guys is its all about money management and game to game value..thats what seperates the degenerates from the sharp money..

Hype MachineExplain further…I dont get what you mean by money management and game-to-game value.
We’ve had sports betting in my region for decades and it seems theres zero possibility of being a career gambler.
The most anyone can make on a $1 ‘beat the spread’ bet is 92c.
That 8c house-tax seems impossible to overcome.

Hype Machinelol, my only talent is generating hype anonymously for basketball players in online forums.
And to be honest there’s probably more people who would pay for me to go away than there is to stay

Leonard WashingtonParticipantYou are definitely right Robb C. Some days you have to go with instinct over greed. Just because I have 17K im still betting small like I usually do. I call it "grinding it out", but coming from some who bets everyday you have to realize you are betting on college players sometimes and you never know whats going on through their minds. Everything looks good on paper…then the game is played. March Madness is a prime example of Vegas making a killing every year. In my personal opinion Febuary is the best time to actually do damage as a gambler on college basketball. You have 3/4 the of the season to get a good read and conference play is easier to bet on in my opinion.
