Since Belmont is in first place in the Conference, anyone know what the chances are Murray State still makes the tourney? I watched them play Austin Peay on ESPN2 today, and I get that it was a nationally televised game, but that was some good basketball. "Kevin" Morant seems to be a step ahead of everyone. I would personally take him ahead of Zion at this point, because I’m not sure Zion’s body can hold up with his explosivess. He’s just too heavy to be putting that much stress on his body.

Also, Murray State has some nice other pieces. Cowart is the athletic PF with good passing. I could see this team making the sweet 16.

Didn’t catch the game but Ja put up numbers again. In previous highlights it looks like he has good teammates who know how to play.  Good chemistry.  In the tourney one awesome guard on a run can win you the whole thing.  See Kemba Walker as well as even a guy like Shabazz Napier.  Derrick Rose was in the title game too.  They look like a bracket buster to me.  Hopefully they aren’t in that 8/9 game where they have to play a 1 seed in the 2nd round although I would feel bad for the one seed.

Maybe they get a 7 or 10 seed and avoid the 1 until the Elite 8.  David vs. Goliath would be neat!

I think they are one of my top sleepers along with AAC teams like Houston (although they could be a 3 seed) and Cincy then probably some Big East teams like Marquette and Georgetown.

I guess I would just like the Sweet 16 to include Ja Morant, Mac McClung, and Markus Howard.  Duke is the favorite but even they will need stellar point guard play from Tre Jones.  I also have those 4 lead guards in my latest mock draft lottery.

With sports science the way it is these days there is no reason to pass up an 18 year old because his body might break down.  I know he is a freak of nature but LeBron is still going strong after all those miles carrying all that bulk.  Say Zion breaks down early at the age of 30.  You still get a good 11 years out of him.

Ja is what 20? And he’s cerebral unlike the the duke military slave man coach K always produces. Zion is wayyy more explosive than Lebron. He weighs 45 more lbs than Lebron, with Derrick rose quickness. I predict he breaks his Achilles this weekend.

Well it’s impossible to break an Achilles so your prediction’s not starting off too well

Elton Brand was cerebral. Given his the youngest GM in the NBA making big moves for Butler and Harris.

Also, Eltons from my hometown so I will always shout him out.

20-4 and a top pick. I would imagine they get in. Plus I think they probably win their conference tournament.

He does remind me a little bit of Westbrook at UCLA.

My Bulls are in serious need of a PG so I hope they’re in a position to draft Ja, then pass on him, trade down and select Darius Garland. Ja just doesn’t do it for me. He’s sloppy, raw, turns basic passes into 1 handed no lookers, his 3 ball sucks, has no mid and I think he’ll have trouble finishing bc of his thin frame. Garland otoh is everything the Bulls need from a PG offensively. To me he’s the most skilled player in this draft. His shot is so pure. The net barely moves when the ball goes in.  Has a short, compact, quick release. He’s got a tighter handle than Ja, is better at creating his own shot in the halfcourt and bc of these qualities will be the better PnR PG…all while being the less ball-dominant, more effective off the ball player as well. Gimme Garland over Morant. Torn meniscus doesn’t scare me. Morant’s game would be more appealing if he was physically dominant with an impressive build, but he’s rail thin with a skinny build. To me he’d be like if Wall wasn’t physically imposing, which to me is a huge difference.

They get in. Good record star player, NCAA greedy with the money so it’s a must they make some off of him before he goes pro.

Not sure why this post is so shocking. Morant could very easily become the better player simply because he will be a gaurd and have more oppurtunities to handle the ball. That wouldnt surprise me at all. However Zion’s really the a type of talent that the NBA has never seen before, his skillset and athletisism package into that size and build is unheard of. He has a chance to be a piece that nobody has on their team and nobody has an awnser for. I dont think anyone will pass up that kind of potential.

From the limited highlights I have seen of Ja Morant he reminds me a bit of 3 players (ironically all who spent time in Memphis, either in both HS/college, or the NBA): on the low side Snap Hunter, on the high side Penny Hardaway and in the middle somewhat of a Jason Williams aka White Chocolate type.

Do you roll the dice on that at 2?  Or 3?

He might be more of a "value" pick in th 6-10 range.

Not a hater, just not much of a fan, yet.

Although slight (and wild?) point guards scare me.

Ok, maybe his "mid-range" comparison is Kenny Anderson.
